    In this paper, a Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) is used to avoid torsional mode instability in a series compensated transmission system. The power system used in this study is the IEEE first benchmark model for Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) analysis.     Abstract
    In this study, the steady-state operation of the brushless doubly-fed machine (BDFM) in various modes is physically elaborated and the active power flow and torque analysis are presented for each operating mode alongside confirmatory experimental results on a 4/8 pole D160 size machine. The machine behaviour in asynchronous operating modes is described similar to the conventional induction machines with corresponding pole numbers. Moreover, its performance in synchronous mode is shown to be similar to synchronous machines.     Abstract
    A general model for superconducting synchronous machines in which the rotor can be considered as a magnetic or a nonmagnetic material is proposed and analytically investigated. Analytical equations for magnetic flux in different regions of the machine have been developed. Furthermore, nonlinear magnetization of the iron core is studied. In order to solve the equations in the case of the iron saturation, a reiterative algorithm is proposed. Finite-element simulation has also been performed to verify the equations and the proposed algorithm. The obtained analytical results show good agreement with finite-element method results

    Position sensorless control of ac machines at zero and low speed is possible using high-frequency carrier injection methods. These methods utilize anisotropic properties of rotor. Therefore, they may lose their efficiency for nonsalient machines or machines with small rotor saliency. In these machines, measurement noise and offset, existing delays, as well as model uncertainties may lead to inaccurate estimation of rotor position.     Abstract
    High frequency (HF) carrier injection schemes can estimate rotor position in a wide speed range. In these methods, first a HF voltage is injected to stator windings and then the corresponding HF current is exploited to estimate the position of rotor using a closed loop tracking observer. The tracking observer is capable to track rotor saliency with no steady state error. However when the motor starts to move or whenever the rotor speed changes a transient error appears.     Although iron-cored superconducting machine has been recently proposed in many papers for its advantages over conventional air-cored structure such as less cost and less perpendicular magnetic component on HTS tapes it has not been studied analytically yet. This paper analytically investigates a general model for iron-cored superconducting synchronous machine.     Abstract
    Brushless Doubly-Fed Machine (BDFM) is a machine which incorporates the robustness of the squirrel cage induction machine while having the speed and power factor control of a synchronous machine.     Abstract
    An optimum electromagnetic design of a nonsalient magnetic-cored superconducting synchronous machine (SSM) is presented in this paper. First, self- and mutual inductances of a nonsalient magnetic-cored SSM are calculated using the magnetic energy method and analytical equations of magnetic vector potential. Then, a design approach for an SSM machine is proposed based on the inductances of the machine. An optimal design is finally performed using a genetic algorithm, considering the machine efficiency as an objective function. The finite-element method is utilized in each step to verify the analytical results

    Abstract
    In many synchronous digital systems especially those used in mobile applications, the system is exposed to sever shaking that may lead to a failure in the clock generator. In this paper we present an effective method to tolerate the faults on the clock signal that are due to defects in external oscillators. Our technique utilizes no Phase-Lock Loops (PLL), no Delay-Locked Loops (DLL) and no high frequency oscillators because of their drawbacks so that it needs neither more effort to meet Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) and requirements nor extra hardware to implement DLLs.
