Designing a collaborative digital library to improve educational systems accompanied by a perspective from Iranian scholar attitudes

    , Article International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems and Web Technologies 2010, EISWT 2010, 12 July 2010 through 14 July 2010 ; 2010 , Pages 132-140 ; 9781617820656 (ISBN) Badashian, A. S ; Firouz Abadi, A. D ; Khalkhali, I ; Shafiei, M. S ; Vojdanijahromi, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this article, a universal collaborative and competitive approach is introduced for deployment of digital collections in an ideal Digital Library for future's educational system. A hierarchical structure is proposed to be used for browsing and searching within mass of digital contents provided for union of curriculums worldwide. The collaborative and open-source aspects of the system guarantee the growth of the Digital Library. On the other hand, the competitive and reviewing aspects guarantee the accuracy of the novel library contents. Two experiments confirm the need for such a universal Digital Library worldwide to enhance learning capabilities, increase accessibility, avoid redundancy...

Analysis of communication systems using iterative methods based on Banach's contraction principle

    , Article 2007 6th International Conference on Information, Communications and Signal Processing, ICICS, Singapore, 10 December 2007 through 13 December 2007 ; 2007 ; 1424409837 (ISBN); 9781424409839 (ISBN) Azari Soufiani, H ; Saberian, M. Abstract
In this paper, the application of a well known mathematical theorem, Banach's fixed point theorem [1], is investigated in iterative signal processing in communications. In most practical communication systems some sort of a contraction mapping is used to enhance the operation of the system. Thus, using a suitable iterative approach, one can set the system in its fixed point and hence, the distortion produced in the transmitter, channel and the receiver can be compensated. In other words, a loosely designed transceiver can be enhanced by an iterative method. In order to verify the truth of the proposed iterative method, the distortion of A/D and D/A converters is compensated at the receiver....

Laboratory studies of MEOR in micromodel as a fractured system

    , Article Society of Petroleum Engineers Eastern Regional Meeting 2007: Unbridling Energy's Future, Lexington, KY, 17 October 2007 through 18 October 2007 ; October , 2007 , Pages 39-46 ; 9781604239362 (ISBN) Nourani, M ; Panahi, H ; Biria, D ; Roosta, R ; Haghighi, M ; Mohebbi, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Microbial EOR (MEOR) is receiving renewed interest worldwide. The method is based on microorganisms' activities to reduce residual oil of reservoirs, which is dependent on behavior of inherent microorganisms or injection of bioproduct of external microorganisms. Five bacterial species were taken from MIS crude oil that is one of the aging Persian fractured reservoirs. Visualization experiments were carried out to examine the behavior of MEOR in micromodels designed to resemble the fractured system: static and dynamic. A new surface sample of the MIS oil was taken at the well head and physical specifications were measured at the lab. This was fairly light oil with API gravity of 42.5. The...

Mass transfer evaluation in a multi-impeller extractor for reactive Mo (VI) extraction from aqueous Sulphate solution by utilizing coupling of acid and solvating Extractants

    Abstract
In this study, mass transfer experimental data from the present column with 70 cm active column length and 11.3 cm internal diameter were interpreted for molybdenum extraction with a mixture of D2EHPA and TBP in terms of the axial diffusion model. The influence of extractants concentration and the initial aqueous pH have studied in the bench-scale experiments. The experimental finding demonstrated that the synergistic solvent extraction increases the constancy of the extracted complexes for transfer into the organic phase. The effect of operating parameters, including agitation speed and inlet phase velocities on the overall mass transfer coefficients under the chemical reaction system, is...
