Systematic Design of Chassis and Suspension System of a Multi-purpose Vehicle for Transportation, Repair and Cleaning Power Station Water Ways

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Tarkashvand, Ali (Author) ; Durali, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, overall design of a multi-purpose vehicle for transportation, repair and cleaning missions in hydro power station water ways during overhaul is presented. Design process is divided into several parts. The main challenges of the project and customer requirements are discussed first. A brief review of electric vehicles history is presented. The conceptual design including initial dimensional calculations, energy analysis and component selection are described in subsequent sections. Finally the structural and dynamic analysis of chassis and suspension system are carried out. To avoid pollution and life hazards to workers, a battery and electric motor drive system is utilized....

Systematic Design of Low Power Flash ADC

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Chahardori, Mohammad (Author) ; Sadughi, Sirus (Supervisor) ; Sharifkhani, Mohamad (Co-Advisor) ; Atarodi, Mojtaba (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Considering the drastical increasing of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, especially carbon dioxide, reduction of these gases seems necessary to combat global warming. Fossil fuel power plants are one of the main sources of CO2 emission. In this thesis, CO2 capture from a natural gas fired combined cycle power plant using different oxygen percent in air feed is studied. Aspen Plus was used to evaluate the effect of this capture technology on the plant efficiency and energetic parameters of the system. Aspen Hysys is used to simulate Amine absorption tower and Air Separation cryogenic tower. Since the oxygen production plant, CO2 capture and transport are cost and energy intensive, the cost...

Improving Design of a Cross-Flow Turbine Based on Manufacturing and Testing The Prototype Turbine

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Khakrand, Mohmmad Hadi (Author) ; Durali, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Electric power is considered as one of the prerequisites of development in many countries. In recent years distributed electric power generation has attracted much attention. Small hydro potentials are considered as the most economical method of harvesting renewable energy and a suitable solution for earning income. In the last two years, a project was defined for Sharif University of Technology by Iran hydro-power authorities with the goal of spotting hydro potentials and design, manufacture and installation of three types of micro hydro powerplants for the first time in Iran. One of these powerplants use a micro Cross-Flow turbine. Although the prototype manufactured for this project is a...

Systematic design method for bonded repair based on axiomatic design methodology

    , Article Procedia CIRP, 16 September 2015 through 18 September 2015 ; Volume 34 , 2015 , Pages 236-243 ; 22128271 (ISSN) Fouladi, E ; Abedian, A ; Giorgetti, A ; Citti, P ; Suh, N. P ; Matt, D ; Kathryn, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
When cracks along rivet holes and other highly stressed regions of mostly aged aircrafts are found, usually repairs are being made to arrest these cracks. Patches provide an innovative repair technique, which can enhance the way aircrafts are maintained. Composite patch design along with axiomatic design technique deployment is a possibility. Axiomatic Design (AD) is expressed as a system design methodology that is applicable to creation of a new design, analysis and improvement of an existing design. While, here Patch Design system architecture is expressed as application of principles of axiomatic design on top level requirements with consideration of design parameters and constraints. A...

Various coupling configurations on the performance of two-dimensional coupled oscillator arrays

    Abstract
Coupled oscillator arrays (COAs) can be used to control the phase distribution across the aperture of an array antenna in such a manner as to affect steering of the beam without the use of phase shifters. Given the various possible planar configurations of COAs, a systematic design approach is necessary. In this study, the authors present a comprehensive comparison of various configurations of planar COAs based on their sensitivity to random errors in their free running frequencies. The parameters considered are (a) the beam pointing error of the array, (b) the locking probability, (c) the side lobe level, and (d) the beam width of the radiation pattern. These results can serve as a design...
