Production of Uranium Dioxide Nano Powder With Hydrothermal Method in Supercritical Water Reactor

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Golzary, Abooali (Author) ; Outokesh, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Ahmadi, Javad (Supervisor) ; Karimi Sabet, Javad (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Hydrothermal supercritical method is one of the most suitable methods for metal oxide nano powder, ceramics and mineral catalyst synthesis. Metal oxides nanopowder in its pure or mixed form has wide potential application as chemical industrial catalyst, hot Superconductors, magnetic material, gas sensors and car catalyst convertors. One of the most important metal oxides aspects of application is uranium oxide as nuclear reactor fuel is used. In addition, UO2 is selective catalyst for converting methane to methanol process and Decomposition of organic Chlorine material. In Supercritical hydrothermal method done in high pressure reactor with critical to fluid, is new method for the...

Robust Optimization for Simulated Systems Using Risk Management and Kriging

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohseni, Ali (Author) ; Mahlooji, Hashem (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Many simulation optimization problems are defined in random settings and their inputs have uncertainty. Therefore, in defining an optimal solution for these problems, uncertainties should be taken into account. The primary way of dealing with this , is Robust Optimization which finds solution immune to these changing settings. Aiming at finding a new approach for simulation optimization problems, this study investigates these uncertainties and robust methods. In the optimization problem, the goal and constraints are considered with separate risk measures and a related problem is defined as follows: Minimizing the weighted sum of all risks subject to the problem constraints. To solve the...

    Optimization of Production of Biodiesel

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Azadfar, Mohsen (Author) ; Rashtchian, Davood (Supervisor) ; Adibi, Mina (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Reduction in the oil reserves level and the increasing of fossil fuel prices and GHG has led to growing value of attention to biodiesel. Reserves of fossil fuels are running out and should have proper alternative for them. Environmental benign and renewable properties of biodiesel make it consider suitable candidate to replace fossil fuels.
In this study, continuous production of biodiesel and optimization of important and influential parameters have been investigated. The method is concluded of trans esterification of soya oil with methanol as feed in presence of homogeneous catalyst of NaOH. The reactor was simple with high efficiency and low operational and investment cost. The...

Optimal design of the high-speed spindle bearings to minimize the non-repeatable runout

    , Article SAE World Congress Experience, WCX 2019, 9 April 2019 through 11 April 2019 ; Volume 2019-April, Issue April , 2019 ; 01487191 (ISSN) Khodaygan, S ; Farahani, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The production with high-quality at the lowest production time can be a key means to success in the competitive environment of the manufacturing companies. Therefore, in recent years, the need for the extra precise and high-speed machine tools has been impressively increased in the manufacturing applications. One of the main sources of errors in the motion of the high-speed spindles is the occurrence of non-repetitive runouts (NRRO) in the bearing. The NRRO can be caused by some factors such as the form of balls, the waveness of rings, the number of balls, and the permutation of one or two balls in the ball bearing. In this paper, a Taguchi-based approach is proposed for the optimal design...

Experimental modeling and optimizing process parameters in the laser assisted machining of silicon carbide particle-reinforced aluminum matrix composites

    , Article Materials Research Express ; Volume 6, Issue 8 , 2019 ; 20531591 (ISSN) Mirshamsi, S. M. A ; Movahhedy, M. R ; Khodaygan, S ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The process of laser assisted machining (LAM) of metal matrix composites (MMC) is experimentally studied. The effects of process parameters (cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut), laser parameters (laser power, laser frequency and laser beam angle), and the percentage of reinforcing particles on the tool wear and the surface roughness are investigated. Furthermore, the effects of the mentioned parameters on the built-up edge (BUE), chip shape, and workpiece temperature are explored. The experiments were performed using uncoated tungsten carbide and PCD tools under dry conditions. In order to analyze the sensitivity of the process parameters, the Plackett-Burman method was used for...
