    Abstract
    In the present paper, a mixed, shear-flexural (VM) hinge element, with zero or nonzero length, for using in frames, has been introduced, where shear-flexural interaction has been considered. The element has the capability of modeling flexural yielding, shear yielding and their interaction in frames, subjected to all kinds of monotonic or cyclic loadings. The inelastic shear and flexural deformations and tangential stiffnesses are considered by using the multi-surfaces approach with dissimilar yield surfaces and by a stiffness matrix with nonzero off-diagonal components.     Abstract
    Surface crack patterns can easily show the behavior of concrete elements and structures. However, visual damage inspection performed by experts is a subjective approach and is prone to inaccuracies. The quantification makes this process objective and more reliable. In that regards, the maximum crack width is used as a practical measurement. It has been shown that the crack width is not a good indicator of damage due to its inherent uncertainties; In fact, it might bounce back after unloading.     Abstract
    Reduced web section beams in shear-yielding moment-resistant steel frames are used for energy dissipating of earthquakes. The finite element analysis indicates that failure mode of these beams are governed by the combination of shear force and flexural moment. Therefore the analysis of frames with reduced web section beams needs consideration of shear-flexural interaction in those sections.     Abstract
    In this paper, a novel temperature-dependent multi-scale method is developed to investigate the role of temperature on surface effects in the analysis of nano-scale materials. In order to evaluate the temperature effect in the micro-scale (atomic) level, the temperature related Cauchy-Born hypothesis is implemented by employing the Helmholtz free energy, as the energy density of equivalent continua relating to the inter-atomic potential.
