Amino acids and their complex formation properties with divalent metal ions, a comparative investigation of structure and stability in binary systems

    , Article Current Pharmaceutical Analysis ; Volume 10, Issue 2 , 2014 , Pages 122-134 ; ISSN: 15734129 Sajadi, S. A. A ; Sharif University of Technology
A comparative investigation has been developed for the stability constants of several amino acid complexes with divalent metal ions, which have been determined by potentiometric pH titration. Depending on the metal ion-binding properties, vital differences in the building complexes were observed. The present study indicates that in some M(L) complexes, metal ions are arranged in carboxyl groups, but in other M(L)complexes, some metal ions are able to build chelate over amine groups. The results mentioned-above demonstrate that for some M(L) complexes, the stability constants are also largely determined by the affinity of metal ions for amine group. This leads to a kind of selectivity of...

Supported liquid membranes comprising of choline chloride based deep eutectic solvents for CO2 capture: Influence of organic acids as hydrogen bond donor

    , Article Journal of Molecular Liquids ; Volume 335 , 2021 ; 01677322 (ISSN) Saeed, U ; Laeeq Khan, A ; Amjad Gilani, M ; Roil Bilad, M ; Ullah Khan, A ; Sharif University of Technology

This study focuses on a forward looking approach in which deep eutectic solvents (DESs), a new class of designer solvents, were impregnated into micro porous polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane for the separation of CO2 from CH4. Three types of DESs were prepared by mixing and heating of hydrogen bond acceptor (choline chloride) with either malic acid, tartaric acid or oxalic acid as hydrogen bond donor. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed the hydrogen bond interactions in the resulting DES. Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) was used to evaluate the thermal stability of the prepared membranes. The DES based supported liquid membranes were investigated systematically to...

Quantitative structure - Mobility relationship study of a diverse set of organic acids using classification and regression trees and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems

    , Article Electrophoresis ; Volume 29, Issue 2 , 2008 , Pages 363-374 ; 01730835 (ISSN) Jalali Heravi, M ; Shahbazikhah, P ; Sharif University of Technology
A quantitative structure-mobility relationship was developed to accurately predict the electrophoretic mobility of organic acids. The absolute electrophoretic mobilities (μ0) of a diverse dataset consisting of 115 carboxylic and sulfonic acids were investigated. A set of 1195 zero- to three-dimensional descriptors representing various structural characteristics was calculated for each molecule in the dataset. Classification and regression trees were successfully used as a descriptor selection method. Four descriptors were selected and used as inputs for adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system. The root mean square errors for the calibration and prediction sets are 1.61 and 2.27, respectively,...

Generic extraction medium: From highly polar to non-polar simultaneous determination

Sample preparation for non-target analysis is challenging due to the difficulty in the extraction of polar and non-polar analytes simultaneously. Most commercial solid sorbents lack the proper comprehensiveness for extraction of analytes with different physiochemical properties. A possible key is the combination of hydrophobic polymer and hydrophilic surface functional groups in solid based extraction methods in order to generate the susceptibility for retaining both polar and non-polar analytes. To pursue this goal, in this study, four polar groups including [sbnd]NH 2 , [sbnd]NO 2 , [sbnd]COOH, and [sbnd]COCH 3 were chemically bound to Amberlite XAD-4 substrate in order to prepare a...
