Abstract
Energy innovation is essential for tackling climate change. However, an established set of indicators, that can support policy makers in their design of policy mixes, has not been developed for evaluating the performance of energy innovation systems. The purpose of this study is, therefore, to list and classify a large set of indicators of the performance of energy innovation systems at sectoral and technological levels. 120 listed indicators are evaluated using four usefulness criteria, demonstrating significant weaknesses in the available indicators. The indicators are also classified according to an innovation process categorization to see if they cover all aspects of an innovation system...
Model for Planning Flow of Knowledge to Optimize Energy and the Environment
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Saboohi, Yadollah (Supervisor)
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyse the technological transition of a new clean energy technology in the market. The agent-based modeling is used in national innovation chain to describe knowledge spillover between main actors in innovation procedure in order to attain renewable energy technology (RET) from basic research to commercial stage. Government’s expenditure on training human resource and R&D activities is modeled as a tool to analyse the development of innovation chain in order to increase diffusion rate of the new technology. Application of the knowledge flow model is demonstrated through analysis of introduction of solar PV in the energy system of Iran and...

Lithium ion Battery Technology Development Policy Making on Iranʼs Oncoming Energy System Based on the Technological Innovation System Approach
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Maleki, Abbas (Supervisor)
Abstract
Lithium ion battery is one of the innovative and emerging technologies in energy sector that has played a major role in electricity supply security by integration of renewable energy technologies in electrical grid, implementation of electrical transportation system and de-carbonation of the both sectors in recent years. On the other hand, the formation of the potential market of technology as one of the functions of the technological innovation system plays an essential role in creation and advancement of innovation in the energy sector. Therefore, in this thesis, the development of lithium ion battery technology in Iran has been investigated from the perspective of the technology market in...
Investigating the Influential Factors on Mapna Business Group's Achievement of Technological Innovation Capability in the Power Plant Industry
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Souzanchi Kashani, Ebrahim (Supervisor)
Abstract
Economic growth and development are among the most critical challenges for policymakers in developing countries. The evolution of companies, especially large companies, has always been one of the main factors of economic growth in many studies on economic growth. Many developing countries have policies in place to support business groups. Still, these firms stop growing after they have grown to a certain extent and do not have technological innovation capability. In Iran, various policies have been adopting to support the growth of companies. However, only a handful of companies have achieved this capability. This study aims to understand the factors that have led Mapna Business Group in the...
