    , Article Polymers for Advanced Technologies ; Volume 14, Issue 7 , 2003 , Pages 508-516 ; 10427147 (ISSN) Zohuriaan Mehr, M. J ; Pourjavadi, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Various natural and modified polysaccharides (i.e. arabic gum, tragacanth gum, xanthan gum, sodium alginate, chitosan, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, methyl cellulose) were modified using cericinitiated graft polymerization of acrylonitrile under inert atmosphere. Grafting was confirmed using spectral (FT-IR) proofs. The grafting parameters were determined by conventional methods. Thermal characteristics of the homopolymer-free copolymers were studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) under nitrogen atmosphere. The major thermal transitions as well as the activation energy of the major decomposition stages were...

Preparation of ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene/carbon nanotube nanocomposites with a Ziegler-Natta catalytic system and investigation of their thermal and mechanical properties

    , Article Journal of Applied Polymer Science ; Volume 125, Issue SUPPL. 1 , 2012 , Pages E453-E461 ; 00218995 (ISSN) Amoli, B. M ; Ramazani, S. A. A ; Izadi, H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this research, ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE)/multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanocomposites with different nanotube concentrations (0.5, 1.5, 2.5, and 3.5 wt %) were prepared via in situ polymerization with a novel, bisupported Ziegler-Natta catalytic system. Magnesium ethoxide [Mg(OEt) 2] and surface-functionalized MWCNTs were used as the support of the catalyst. Titanium tetrachloride (TiCl 4) accompanied by triethylaluminum constituted the Ziegler-Natta catalytic system. Preparation of the catalyst and the polymerization were carried out in the slurry phase under an argon atmosphere. Support of the catalyst on the MWCNTs was investigated with Fourier transform...

Preparation and investigations on the thermal, structural and magnetic behavior of Co-Ce substituted Ni nanoferrites

    Abstract
Co-Ce doped Ni nanocrystalline ferrites having composition Ni0.8Ce0.2CoxFe2-xO4 with x = 0.00, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00 were fabricated by sol gel auto combustion method. Synthesized samples were investigated by thermal gravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TGA-DTA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive analysis (EDX) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) to study the phase, vibrational modes, structure, surface analysis and magnetic properties respectively. Structural parameters (lattice parameters, cell volume, crystallite size and micro strains) were also calculated from XRD recorded data....
