    Abstract
UMTS is the European standard of third generation of mobile communications and its air interface is called WCDMA. In this paper a simple WCDMA system in downlink and in FDD mode is simulated and results is presented. The simulation that is an execution of apart of physical layer functions as layer 1, is including data modulation, spreading multipath channel, AWGN noise, data demodulation, despreading and Rake receiver. It is obvious that transmission methods of data correspond with WCDMA standard. In the other word, frames and slots structure, data symbols setting and requiring parameters follow the defined standards

Investigating the customer care based on enhanced telecom operation map standard in third generation of mobile networks

    , Article Indian Journal of Science and Technology ; Volume 8, Issue 22 , Sep , 2015 ; 09746846 (ISSN) Boroumandzadeh, M ; Mirsarraf, M. R ; Movaghar, A ; Sharif University of Technology
Indian Society for Education and Environment  2015
    Abstract
Objectives: This study takes the guaranteed quality of service for operators and service providers into consideration and challenges the discussions on service assurances such as mathematical and statistical analyses of quality indicators to achieve the significance of elements relevant to the services. Methods/Analysis: In order to ensure the process, Enhanced Telecom Operation Map (ETOM) framework has been applied, the procedure is tested on the Executive Network of Iran Telecommunication Research Center (mail services) due to the lack of a practical context of UMTS network (3G). Findings: The result was to achieve a practical and logical way characterizing coefficients of significance and...

Role of the nucleating agent masterbatch carrier resin in the nonisothermal crystallization kinetics of polypropylene

    , Article Polymer Journal ; Volume 54, Issue 9 , 2022 , Pages 1127-1132 ; 00323896 (ISSN) Shokrollahi, M ; Marouf, B. T ; Bagheri, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Springer Nature  2022
    Abstract
The effect of the nucleating agent masterbatch carrier resin on the nonisothermal crystallization of a pipe-grade polypropylene block copolymer was investigated at three different cooling rates using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Bis(3,4-dimethylibenzylidene) sorbitol (DMDBS), a well-known, third-generation sorbitol derivative, was used as a nucleating agent in this study. Crystallization kinetic parameters obtained from DSC cooling curves showed that incorporation of a nucleating agent by means of a masterbatch increased the crystallization rate by approximately two times compared to that of the sample with the same concentration of nucleating agent without the use of a...

Radiowave Propagation Modeling Along a Street for Use in Microcells in Third Generation Wireless Communications

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sadeghi, Hamed (Author) ; Farzaneh, Forouhar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, a simplified method was introduced to model the wave scattering by the metallic objects in a microcell, in order to determine the coverage pattern. First, the equivalent images method was introduced, which models the building walls effect. This method is fast, memory saving and accurate enough to estimate the scattered fields. Two-ray incidence model accuracy was investigated and confirmed in modeling the scattering from the metallic objects. This method also enhances saving in time and memory. The accuracy of single scattering assumption was investigated and confirmed in a scenario of multiple metallic scatterers. Based on this assumption, we can superimpose the scattered...

The effects of recombination lifetime on efficiency and JV characteristics of InxGa1-xN/GaN quantum dot intermediate band solar cell

    , Article Physica E: Low-Dimensional Systems and Nanostructures ; Volume 42, Issue 9 , July , 2010 , Pages 2353-2357 ; 13869477 (ISSN) Es'Haghi Gorji, N ; Movla, H ; Sohrabi, F ; Hosseinpour, A ; Rezaei, M ; Babaei, H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
We introduce a new third generation of solar cell structure which inserts different-sized quantum dots in the active region of a pin structure. Generating an intermediate band in the bandgap of the host material makes a good overlap with a part of solar spectrum. The effect of the recombination mechanisms on efficiency and currentvoltage characteristics of this intermediate band solar cell is calculated. We deduce that the increase in recombination lifetime of the excited carriers can improve the characteristics of this structure. This result can be a route which helps us to take the effect on solar cell characteristics into consideration

Capacity Analysis and Interference Characterization for CDMA Cellular Wireless Communications Systems Based on Statistical Modelling of User Locations

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Taheri, Mohammad Mahdi (Author) ; Bastani, Mohammad Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis we consider the effect of random locations of users in the capacity analysis of SIR-based power control systems and comparison to the strength-based systems, for the first time. Unlike previous works we do not consider a simple deterministic uniform model for the analysis. We provide simulations and analytical solutions for calculating the interference statistics, based on which, we not only calculate the interference statistics, but also study the effect of locating a user in every location in the network coverage area and its share in the interference. We also calculate each cell’s share in every statistics of the interference. In this thesis, based on the common assumption...

Iran atlas of offshore renewable energies

    , Article Renewable Energy ; Volume 36, Issue 1 , January , 2011 , Pages 388-398 ; 09601481 (ISSN) Abbaspour, M ; Rahimi, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
The aim of the present study is to provide an Atlas of IRAN Offshore Renewable Energy Resources (hereafter called 'the Atlas') to map out wave and tidal resources at a national scale, extending over the area of the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman. Such an Atlas can provide necessary tools to identify the areas with greatest resource potential and within reach of present technology development. To estimate available tidal energy resources at the site, a two-dimensional tidally driven hydrodynamic numerical model of Persian Gulf was developed using the hydrodynamic model in the MIKE 21 Flow Model (MIKE 21HD), with validation using tidal elevation measurements and tidal stream diamonds from...
