Rehabilitation of Concrete Structures Using 3D Panels

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseini, Hadi (Author) ; Vafaii, Abolhasan (Supervisor) ; Gerami, Mohsen (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
A high percentage of reinforced concrete buildings are not earthquake resistant because they are often designed based on old regulations, which do not satisfy the requirements of new earthquake codes. Construction weaknesses make buildings more vulnerable, and thus, different approaches are needed to strengthen structures to resist lateral forces. 3D Panel system brings together the best qualities of in-situ and precast systems and improves their shortcoming. It includes the advantages of precast systems, such as having relatively low labor costs, less waste material and machinery, reducing implementation time and improving quality control. At the same time, serious problems related to...

Ductility Analysis of L & T Shaped Wall to Wall Connections of 3D Panels Subjected to Lateral & Gravity Loading

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sangaki, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Vafaei, Abolhassan (Supervisor) ; Kabir, Mohammad Zaman (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Iran requires basic changes in using construction materials and industrial system of house production due to its particular climatic conditions such as being located on the earthquake belt and social conditions such as lack of house. 3D panel is one of the best options for industrial construction and especially mass building.
In this thesis, different suggested designs for L & T shaped wall to wall connections of 3D panel under lateral-cyclic and gravity loading were modeled and analyzed by ANSYS software. Numerical analysis indicates that concrete perpendicular hank and welded wire mesh WWF 3/3/50/50 have positive effect on the ultimate strength and ductility of the connection. Hence,...

Seismic Analysis of Load-bearing 3D Panel Structures Considering SSI Effect through ET Method

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Aliakbarlou, Hamid (Author) ; Esmaeil Pourestekanchi, Homayun (Supervisor) ; Ghannad, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Different structural systems have been declared and used in recent decades. To identify more about their performance, it's crucial that while evaluating their characteristic, the effect of miscellaneous natural phenomena would be evaluated. One of these phenomena is SSI or Soil effect actively on the structure performance. As modeling has serious effect on the results precision related with SSI effect, usage of 3D Models those that are more compatible with the real ones is important. So, in this research two 2 and 5 story building possessing real dimension in the format of 3D-Modeling with all effective details were modeled by finite element method. For seismic analysis, 7 couple records...

Development of the Hale Aircraft's Aeroelastic Model with Very Flexible Wings

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Borhanpanah, Mohammad Reza (Author) ; Dehghani Firouzabadi, Roohallah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, a nonlinear aeroelastic model for an aircraft with fully flexible wings is obtained. This aeroelastic model is based on system identification and is created using the beam model for the structure and the three-dimensional panel method for aerodynamic analysis. The model intended for the structure is a nonlinear beam with exact geometry with initial deformation and rigid motion. The model intended for aerodynamics is an unsteady three-dimensional panel method for the airplane’s body, wings, and tail. The desired aeroelasticity model is a reduced-order model based on system identification using the time-domain/frequency-domain aerodynamic response under forced vibrations in the...
