    Abstract
    In this study, the authors propose a novel power allocation scheme in time division multiple access (TDMA)-based distributed multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels. By modelling the problem with a TDMA MIMO interference channel, the authors have derived closed-form expressions for power and time slot assigned to each MIMO transmission. Although our scheme is sub-optimal, with the aid of Jensen's inequality, it is shown to be superior to solutions based on channel inversion. In addition, the proposed scheme is compared with the optimal solution, and also with the scheme proposed by Dohler.     Abstract
    In this paper, a new scheme for adaptive subcarrier, bit and power allocation for downlink transmission of multiuser orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems is presented. An adaptive algorithm is introduced to maximize the total data rate in a frequency selective channel, while satisfying requirements on total transmit power, minimum data rate of each user and desired BER to offer various quality of service (QoS) levels for different users.     Abstract
    The developed wireless multi-channel PPG system comprises tiered communication subsystem with two sensor modules and a single base module. The sensor modules process the input signals simultaneously into 16-bit samples and wirelessly transfer them to base module using Bluetooth technology. In base module, the samples are combined using time division multiplexing into composite stream and serially forwarded to the host computer. The string buffer is implemented in the sensor module firmware to increase the transfer time, transfer samples in chunks and eliminate the wireless transmission latency.     Abstract
    We propose a perturbation method for time division multiplexed (TDM) pumping fiber Raman amplifier (FRA). The method is based on the solution of Raman partial differential equations (PDEs) by a closed integral form. Taking the signals and pumps power as the interim solution and updating their values in an iterative process, Raman gain and pump/signal evolution can be calculated in any order of accuracy. In the first order of perturbation, some analytical formulas for the FRA dynamic control are obtained. Analytical formulas are employed for gain ripple minimization and also the gain clamping problem under channel reconfiguration. © 2009 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved

    Although many Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols have been specifically designed for WSNs where energy awareness is an essential consideration, only a few of them have considered the presence of mobile nodes or dynamic network topology in their protocols.     Abstract
    Cellular CDMA systems have to trade user capacity to increase cell coverage. Moreover, coverage of CDMA is uplink-limited because uplink channels are not orthogonal and transmit powers of mobile stations are limited. In this paper, we propose a coverage-dependent dynamic channel allocation (DCA) method for TDMA-CDMA. In this method, different uplink timeslots have different level of coverage-capacity tradeoff, i.e., Non-Homogeneous Coverage-Capacity Tradeoff (NHCCT). This method reduces uplink power consumption and improves coverage-capacity tradeoff, compared to Load Balancing DCA method.     This paper introduces a cyber-physical system for building automation and control that is developed based on a distributed model predictive control. The implemented distributed method significantly reduces computation overhead with respect to the centralized methods. However, continuous data transfer between subsystems, which are often far from each other, is required when using this method.
