    Abstract
Stable control of water level of drum is of great importance for economic operation of power plant steam generator systems. In this paper, a linear model of the boiler unit with time varying parameters is used for simulation. Two transfer functions between drum water level (output variable) and feed-water and steam mass rates (input variables) are considered. Variation of model parameters may be arisen from disturbances affecting water level of drum, model uncertainties and parameter mismatch due to the variant operating conditions. To achieve a perfect tracking of the desired drum water level, two sliding mode controllers are designed separately. Results show that the designed controllers...

Importance analysis considering time-varying parameters and different perturbation occurrence times

    Abstract
Importance measures are integral parts of risk assessment for risk-informed decision making. Because the parameters of a risk model, such as the component failure rates, are functions of time and a perturbation (change) in their values can occur during the mission time, time dependence must be considered in the evaluation of the importance measures. In this paper, it is shown that the change in system performance at time t, and consequently the importance of the parameters at time t, depends on the parameters perturbation time and their value functions during the system mission time. We consider a nonhomogeneous continuous time Markov model of a series-parallel system to propose the...

Control of high order integrator chain systems subjected to disturbance and saturated control: A new adaptive scheme

    Abstract
This paper is concerned with the global stabilization of multiple integrator systems subjected to input saturation. Among the existing works, nested saturation method has been demonstrated to be an effective tool. In the present contribution, an adaptive nested saturation feedback law is proposed which takes the advantages of time varying parameters in the saturation functions along with employing the well-known extended state observer. The global stability of the proposed approach for a desired order of integrators’ chain is demonstrated. The performance of the proposed control law is compared with the existing methods in the case of a triple integrator chain. It is shown that the proposed...

Robust Control of Multiple Integrator Systems Subjected to External Disturbance and Bounded Control

    Abstract
This thesis is concerned with the robust control of multiple integrator systems, subjected to input saturation and external disturbance. Since nested saturation method has been demonstrated to be an effective tool for control of a chain of integrators, a feedback law using nested saturation is proposed. In order to deal with disturbance, an extended state observer is applied to nested saturation controller and a comprehensive analysis of stability is also presented. The existence of constant parameters in the proposed controller makes the design conservative which results in performance degradation in some cases at the presence of disturbance. To overcome this issue, an adaptive approach...

Robust distributed control of spacecraft formation flying with adaptive network topology

    , Article Acta Astronautica ; Volume 136 , 2017 , Pages 281-296 ; 00945765 (ISSN) Shasti, B ; Alasty, A ; Assadian, N ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this study, the distributed six degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) coordinated control of spacecraft formation flying in low earth orbit (LEO) has been investigated. For this purpose, an accurate coupled translational and attitude relative dynamics model of the spacecraft with respect to the reference orbit (virtual leader) is presented by considering the most effective perturbation acceleration forces on LEO satellites, i.e. the second zonal harmonic and the atmospheric drag. Subsequently, the 6-DOF coordinated control of spacecraft in formation is studied. During the mission, the spacecraft communicate with each other through a switching network topology in which the weights of its graph...
