    Considerable portion of energy losses in a vehicle traced to tire. Energy losses in a tire are due to tire longitudinal slip as well as rolling resistance.     Abstract
    One of the most prominent uses of ground tire rubber (GTR) is in rubber-modified asphalt industry. Besides improving performance properties of binders, GTR induces some drawbacks like weak storage stability and inferior low temperature (LT) performance. This study sought to rectify these shortcomings through using devulcanized rubber (DVR) in place of common GTR. Binder performance grading, multiple stress creep and recovery, and storage stability tests were conducted. More resistance against traffic loads at high temperatures was observed as DVR's advantages over GTR, while its weaker LT characteristics and lower storage stability can prevent it from being a viable alternative. © 2017...

    This study addresses the issue of using recycled materials to obtain low-cost structural products for practical applications. Through the use and re-extrusion of virgin high-density polyethylene (HDPE), the effects of the degradation level of HDPE as a matrix phase on its mechanical properties and the mechanical performance of composites produced with the degraded polyethylene have been examined. The British pendulum test has been used worldwide to evaluate friction characteristics of pavement surfaces. However, because of considerable differences in apparatus, procedures, and operation, significant variability can occur for evaluations of British pendulum number (BPN).     Due to the increasingly serious environmental problems presented by waste tires, the feasibility of using elastic and flexible tire-rubber particles as aggregate in concrete is investigated in this study. Tire-rubber particles composed of tire chips, crumb rubber, and a combination of tire chips and crumb rubber, were used to replace mineral aggregates in concrete. These particles were used to replace 12.5%, 25%, 37.5%, and 50% of the total mineral aggregate's volume in concrete. Cylindrical shape concrete specimens 15 cm in diameter and 30 cm in height were fabricated and cured.     Understanding and defining mechanical behavior of engineering materials play an important role in the prediction of material response as well as analysis and design of engineering structures. In this investigation, polymer concrete (PC) with three different epoxy resin contents, ordinary cement concrete (OCC), lightweight concrete (LWC) and lime-mortar soil (LMS) have been studied under uniaxial and triaxial compression tests to determine their mechanical behavior by measuring axial stress-strain and volumetric strain versus axial strain curves.     In the present research, the influence of nanodiamond (ND) and a physical hybrid of ND and fumed nano-SiO2 were investigated on the performance of a typical tire tread compound. The styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) and cis-butadiene rubber (BR) blend filled with a commercial grade highly dispersive silica at 70 phr loading were used as typical tire tread compound.
