The Study of Firm Specific Determinants of Capital Structure: Evidence form Iranian Frims Listed on Tehran Stock Exchange

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Saeedi, Hesamoddin (Author) ; Zamani, Shiva (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Since the seminal work of Modigliani and Miller, the basic question of whether a unique combination of debt and equity capital maximizes the firm value, and if so, what factors could influence a firm’s optimal capital structure have been the subject of frequent debate in the capital structure literature. Empirical work in this area has lagged behind the theoretical research, perhaps because the relevant firm attributes are expressed in terms of fairly abstract concepts that are not directly observable and furthermore capital structure decision-making is even more complicated when it is examined in an international context, particularly in developing countries where markets are characterized...

Capital Structure Impact on the Performance of Listed Companies in the Tehran Stock Exchange

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rashidkhani, Amir Reza (Author) ; Hajizadeh, Iman (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This thesis analyses the relationship between performance and capital structure of listed companies in the Tehran stock exchange. For examining this relationship, we use trade-off theory. This theory states that using debt comes with some benefits and costs for the company. If this theory holds true, we expect that in a low debt capital structure, as a result of benefits of using debt surpasses the costs of it, the relationship between debt and performance should be positive and in a high debt capital structure, as a result of costs of using debt surpasses the benefits of it, using more debt should have negative relationship with performance. For examining this relationship, we first gather...

Private Sector Willingness-to-Invest in Construction of Residential Apartments in the Deteriorated Land Use Area Based on Build-Operate-Transfer Scheme and Transit-Oriented-Development Concept

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Naeimian, Behnaz (Author) ; Poorzahedy, Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This study is part of a bigger project which models Transit-Oriented-Development in deteriorated land use area in order to transfer the residents of the unsafe buildings to new apartments built by the Bus Rapid Transit system, and at the same time increase transit patronage. Residents in the deteriorated land use area (R) trade their land for equivalent value of the new apartment floor area, built by the Private Sector (P). P, in return receive the permission to build equivalent value of “commercial” floor area on the land freed from R. P Builds this new commercial area, Operates it for a life-time (30 to 50 years concession period) and then Transfers it to the City Government, thus a BOT...

Deep Neural Networks: Tradeoff Between Compression and Communication Rates

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Najafiaghdam, Kossar (Author) ; Motahari, Abolfazl (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In recent years, the use of Deep Neural Networks in solving various problems has grown considerably. Possessing a large number of parameters, these networks have the ability to reconstruct complex functions and relations from large amounts of data and have been able to achieve the best results in a wide range of problems. But using these models comes with its own problems. These networks typically require considerable resources in order to run. This makes it inefficient or impossible to use them in systems with limited processing capabilities, e.g mobile phones. The existing approaches, e.g. the deployment of the model on a powerful server and network compression, have their own drawbacks...
