    Vehicle trajectory challenge in predictive active steering rollover prevention

    High center of mass vehicles are likely to rollover in extreme maneuvers. Available works present control strategies to prevent rollover. In these works, however, other important parameters such as path trajectory tracking are not a main concern. In this paper conflicts between rollover prevention and trajectory tracking is investigated. Model predictive control (MPC) is adopted to predict and avoid rollover while tracking desired trajectory.     In this paper, the swing-up problem of the Furuta pendulum has been solved by introducing a new combined method based on the frequency response, and the sliding mode method.     In this thesis, black-box identification, designing and implementing an iterative learning controller for the quadcopter was performed. Initially, the open-loop quadcopter system is unstable, so for black-box identification, a controller must first be implemented to stabilize it, but since no model is available from the system, the controlling parameters of the stabilizer through a proportional-integral and a proportional controller are executed as trial and error.     Abstract
    In this paper a neural network decentralized control for trajectory tracking of robot manipulators is developed. The proposed decentralized control allows the overall closed-loop system to be stabilized while making the tracking error to be uniformly ultimately bounded (UUB), without having any prior knowledge of the robot manipulator dynamics. The interconnections in the dynamic equations of each subsystem are considered with unknown nonlinear bounds. The RBF neural networks (RBFNNs) are proposed to model the unknown nonlinear dynamics of the robots and the interconnection terms.     The development and the implementation of a new guidance law are addressed for a six dimensional trajectory tracking problem, three dimensions for position tracking and three dimensions for velocity tracking, of a micro air vehicle. To generate the desired trajectory a virtual leader is defined which is moved in space.     A novel fault-tolerant model predictive control (MPC)-based trajectory tracking approach for an aerial vehicle is presented in this study. A generalised online sequential extreme learning machine is introduced first to identify the corresponding coefficients of actuator faults. Subsequently, a robust trajectory tracking control is developed based on MPC, where the system constraints can be effectively considered in the designed control scheme.     The combination of pursuit and line of sight guidance laws, called PLOS, is used to steer an unmanned aerial vehicle along a desired path. In the previous studies, the parameters of this guidance law are tuned by trial and error and are constant, during the flight. In this research, it will be shown that the optimal value of these parameters depends on the initial conditions of the problem and the wind conditions.     Background: An effective master robot for haptic tele-surgery applications needs to provide a solution for the inversed movements of the surgical tool, in addition to sufficient workspace and manipulability, with minimal moving inertia. Method: A novel 4+1-DOF mechanism was proposed, based on a triple parallelogram linkage, which provided a Remote Center of Motion (RCM) at the back of the user's hand. The kinematics of the robot was analyzed and a prototype was fabricated and evaluated by experimental tests.     A robotic manipulator is modelled as a cantilever rotating Euler-Bernoulli beam. Two dynamic transfer functions are derived to describe beam tip motion and angular rotation in terms of the desired angular rotation. Torque disturbance, imprecision in the payload mass, unknown properties of the manipulator link are sources of uncertainty. These equations serve as a model for physical phenomena such as oscillatory systems like strings and beams. The controllers are designed using a backstepping method, which has been recently developed for parabolic PDEs. With the integral transformation and boundary feedback the unstable PDE is converted into a system which is stable in sense of Lyapunov.     Abstract
    A 3-D Hough transform is introduced for detection of linear trajectories in a 3-D data space. Data space is constructed from returned radar data using range, bearing, and time information. This information is then mapped into a 3-D Cartesian data space. The constant velocity target trajectories appear as straight lines in this space, and are detected by the usage of 3-D Hough transform. The efficacy of the 3-D Hough transform is verified by simulation. In comparison with the 2-D case, when only the range-time information is used, the 3-D Hough transform has a better performance. © 2008 IEEE
