Derivation of a low-frequency model for a 3D wound core transformer

    , Article 2017 25th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering, ICEE 2017, 2 May 2017 through 4 May 2017 ; 2017 , Pages 1319-1323 ; 9781509059638 (ISBN) Elhaminia, P ; Hajipour, E ; Moradnouri, A ; Vakilian, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
3D wound core is a newly proposed core structure, which is used for construction of distribution transformers. Although many advantages have been proposed for transformer with 3D wound core and it has found increasing application in some countries such as China and Iran, no model has been presented so far in the literature for such transformers. In this paper, a low frequency model, derived based on the duality principle for transformer with 3D wound core, which can be used for both steady state and low-frequency transient studies. The validity of the model in steady state condition is then verified by experimental results. © 2017 IEEE

Effect of different lubricant on microstructure of second cold rolled silicon steel used in transformer core

    Abstract
One of the important parts of each transformer is core. It is made from multilayer silicon steel sheets. Silicon steel has high magnetic permission, high electrical resistance and minimum hysterics loss. In different metal forming process, lubrication is done for reducing friction effects. In this research, effect of 3 different type lubricants, mineral material (castor oil), organic material (glycerol), and semi organic material (paraffin) with and without additive (graphite) is investigated. Also, effect of 2 industrial lubricants (suds and motor oil) is compromised with above lubricants. Results show the best lubricant for second cold rolling of silicon steel is semi organic (paraffin)...

    Abstract
Partial Discharge (PD) measurements in Ultra High Frequency (UHF) band requires modern techniques for monitoring of power transformer. This is a topic of interest investigated in this field, especially in recent years. Different experimental models, such as: defect models, and winding models are used in PD studies of power transformer. The purpose in application of these models is to represent and simulate the real transformer performance using a simple model. The proposed model needs to be a simplified one which can be implemented of them. However, the applied simplifications may result in some changes (inaccuracy) into the recorded PD current signals captured by UHF sensors. These changes...

A method for modeling power transformer tap winding for transient studies

    , Article Conference Record of IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation, Indianapolis, IN, 19 September 2004 through 22 September 2004 ; 2004 , Pages 34-37 ; 01642006 (ISSN) Naderi, M. S ; Vakilian, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
One of the challenges a transformer designer is faced with is to correctly model the different types of transformer windings for transient study. For a precise insulation design, determination of transformer transient responses is unavoidable. The basis of these studies is calculation of transient responses due to application of standard switching and lightning impulse wave to the transformer winding. In a previous work, a computer program was developed for determination of the layer and disk type windings transient model parameters based on design data. This program has all of the necessary capabilities for a detailed transient study. As a continuation of that work, in this paper a method...
