Incremental Dynamic Analysis of 3D Asymmetric Structure Retrofitted With TADAS Device and Development of IDA Surfaces

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hassanieh, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Mofid, Masoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Dynamic response of structures, against ground motion, is one of the most important issues in earthquake engineering. A variety of approaches and apparatus have been developed for this purpose. One of these equipments is metallic dampers. Such apparatuses provide damping, accompanied with reasonably strong lateral stiffness; hence, they are named as “Added Damping And Stiffness” (ADAS). The present study aims to evaluate the performance of a common metal damper consisted of triangular metal plates known as “Triangular Added Damping And Stiffness” (TADAS). In this investigation, the performance of TADAS, in an eight story irregular in plan steel structure, is extensively considered. A 3-D...

Seisimc Performance of Dutile End Diaphragms For Slab-on-girder Steel Bridges

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mareki, Hasan (Author) ; Mofid, Massoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This thesis illustrates the typical seismic retrofitting of bridges using a model governing transverse seismic response of retrofitted bridges by simplified analytical models of the end diaphragms based on the fundamental dynamic concept as well as previous research works. For three types of ductile diaphragm devices such as Eccentrically Braced Frames (EBF), Triangular-plate Added Damping and Stiffness Devices (TADAS) and Chevron Knee Bracing (CKB)and Shear Panel System(SPS), finite element nonlinear analytical models are developed in separate flexural and shear yielding modes, and the capability of the proposed finite element models is ascertained. The IDA (Incremental Dynamic Analyses) are...
