Three-Dimensional Analysis of Soil-Tunnel Interaction during Excavation at the Mechanized Methods (EPB-TBM) and their Effect on Sueface Settlement, Case Study:Shiraz Urban Railway Line 2 Metro

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Pirastefar, Keyvan (Author) ; Sedghiani, Mohammad Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
in the project of Shiraz Metro Line 2, one of the busiest and most popular areas is the distance between Mianrood Street up to Imam Hussein Square where Includes historical, commercial and tourism contexture. So the west to east line of Shiraz metro is under construction. In some cases, the ground water level is higher than tunnel crown level. To prevent probable problems, the TBM machine will work in EPB mode. The twin Tunnel of Shiraz Urban Railway system is constructed in soil medium that consists of clay and silt. Tunnel excavation diameter is 6.88 meters and when lining is replaced by pieces of concrete the diameter will reduce to 6 meters. The distance between two tunnels will change in...

Study of the Effect of Central Beam Column (CBC) Structure on Sequential Excavation of Large Span Underground Station

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Valizade Givi, Amir (Author) ; Ahmadi, Mohammad Mehdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Effect of utilizing Central Beam Column (CBC) structure on shallow, large span underground spaces excavation is studied. The CBC method focuses on increasing the overall rigidity of tunnel supporting system prior to full face excavation, in which central drift excavation is limited to the dimensions of the central beam and column to reduce disturbances. Constructing the central beam and column structure, the excavation is completed with NATM excavation method in a symmetric manner about centerline. In CBC method on each side of the centerline there is an arch structure composed of the initial lining resting on roof beam on top and bottom beam at the invert. The roof and bottom beams take the...

Evaluation the Surface Settlement and Interaction Between Tunnelinline2 and Metro Station Inline1 of Mashhad Metro at Intersection Using 3-D Numerical Modeling

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghasempour, Hamid (Author) ; Sadaghiani, Mohammad Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, the interaction of tunneling of line 2 of Mashhad metro and existing metro station (Shariati station) in line 1 has been investigated. To produce the stress and displacement which is caused by excavation of station, the process of station excavation has been modeled by method of cut and cover. This method is the common method for station construction at Shallow depth and is used in several cases in line 1 of Mashhad metro. The piled-raft system is used in foundation of central part of the station to reduce the settlements and the effects of interactions between the station and new tunnel. The new tunnel under the station is surrounded by two rows of lateral piles with distance...

3-D Analysis of Effects of Groundwater and Mechanical Properties of Soil on Settlement of Metro Tunnels

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Bagheri Asl, Shoja (Author) ; Sedghiani, Mohammad Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Excavation of metro tunnel beneath groundwater level causes disturbance of hydro geological balance and change in stress conditions at its environment. One of the usual methods of the tunnel construction is utilizing tunnel boring machine and one of the most important of them is called TBM-EPB which takes advantage of the earth pressure balance method. Control of surface settlements which is a result of creating underground space in urban area is a matter of great importance and is influenced by various parameters. This thesis has tried to investigate factors such as geotechnical properties among cohesion, internal friction angle, elasticity modulus, permeability and porosity and also...
