    Modeling the kinetics of asphaltene flocculation in toluene-pentane systems for the case of sonicated crude oils

    Abstract
    This work is concerned with the monitoring of ultrasound effects on inhibition, as well as the reversible kinetics modeling of asphaltene flocculation in toluene-n-alkane systems, which has been rarely reported in the literature. A crude oil sample was exposed to ultrasound waves, and then the colloidal structural evolutions of flocculated asphaltene particles induced by addition of n-alkane were studied, using a confocal microscopy. Observations confirmed that radiation of ultrasound can change the irreversibility of asphaltene flocculation in crude oil.     Abstract
    In this paper, a new technique based on nonlinear resonance of microbubbles is investigated in order to estimate the amplitude of an ultrasound wave pressure field. First, the existing theoretical model is reviewed. Then, an experimental setup consisting of a bubble generator and transmitting/receiving ultrasound transducers operating in the 1 MHz frequency range is described. The effect of background noise is also taken into account. Results show that the second harmonic oscillations are detectable, paving the way to develop a quantitative method for in vivo calibration of ultrasound waves

    Abstract
    In this paper, the relationship between the position of ultrasound transducers from the photoacoustic source and the reconstructed image is investigated. Our studies have shown that the distance of the transducer and its location from the photoacoustic source specifically affects and is closely related to the quality of the reconstructed image of the source. Also, we introduce a concept called blind angle for photoacoustic computed tomography (PACT) that have planar or circular limited-view geometry.     Abstract
    In this paper, a novel method which has been proposed during the last decade for increasing of the permeability of porous media of petroleum reservoirs by transferring of energy via ultrasound waves is investigated numerically. Increasing of permeability of porous media of petroleum reservoirs results in enhancing of oil recovery. This technique is based on the idea of transferring of energy to the liquid filled porous media via the ultrasound waves and consequently producing of pulsating vapor bubbles.     Abstract
    A sonochemistry-based synthesis method was used to produce nanocrystalline nickel oxide powder with ∼20 nm average crystallite diameter from Ni(OH)2 precursor. Ultrasound waves were applied to the primary solution to intensify the Ni(OH)2 precipitation. Dried precipitates were calcined at 320 °C to form nanocrystalline NiO particles. The morphology of the produced powder was characterized by transmission electron microscopy. Using sonochemical waves resulted in lowering of the size of the nickel oxide crystallites.
