    A comparative investigation of the interaction of Cu(II) with a series of 15- to 19-membered mixed-donor dibenzo-substituted macrocyclic ligands, each incorporating an O2N2-donor set, has been carried out using UV-Visible studies in methanol. Although a ring size effect has been reported for a related series of Ni(II) complexes, no such metal ion discrimination has been reported for Cu(II) in terms of its binding constants with 14- to 17-membered macrocycles.     The kinetics of coalescence is studied experimentally using a new technique for tracking the process in the bulk phase. For this aim, aqueous solutions of KSCN (colorless) and FeCl3 (light yellow) are used to make individual W/O emulsions. Any coalescence occurred between drops containing KSCN solution and those containing FeCl3 solution would combine these solutions. This leads to a reddish brown solution due to the formation of iron(III)thiocyanate. The intensity change of this red color with time represents the dynamics of coalescence occurring between drops of different emulsified aqueous droplets.     A crude phenolic glycolipid extract from Mycobacterium bovis BCG was fractionated by column chromatography. A reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method with UV detection at 275nm was developed for simultaneous detection and separation of phenolic glycolipids (PGLs) in Mycobacterium bovis BCG. This analysis provides a good resolution. Different solvent systems and columns for HPLC were compared. A system composed of acetonitrile-water in the ratio of 0→80% at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min and C8 analytical column were found to be optimum for HPLC of the phenolic glycolipids.     An indirect colorimetric method is presented for detection of trace amounts of hydroquinone (1), catechol (2) and pyrogallol (3). The reduction of AuCl4- to Gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) by these phenolic compounds in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) produced very intense surface plasmon resonance peak of Au-NPs.     In the present study, the solubility of paracetamol in supercritical CO2 is measured at temperatures between 311 and 358 K and pressures between 95 and 265 bar. It was shown that the solubility of paracetamol through a static solubility measurement method was between 0.3055 × 10−6 to 16.3582 × 10−6 based on mole fraction. The obtained experimental solubility data revealed the direct effect of pressure on the paracetamol experimental data, while the temperature has a dual effect of both increasing and decreasing effect considering the shifting point known as crossover pressure which was measured to be around 110 bar for paracetamol.     In the present work a central composite design based on response surface methodology (RSM) is employed for fine tuning of the aspect ratios of seed-mediated synthesized gold nanorods (GNRs). The relations between the affecting parameters, including ratio of l-ascorbic acid to Au3+ ions, concentrations of silver nitrate, CTAB, and CTAB-capped gold seeds, were explored using a RSM model. It is observed that the effect of each parameter on the aspect ratio of developing nanorods highly depends on the value of the other parameters.     Green tea-reduced graphene oxide (GT-rGO) sheets have been exploited for high efficiency near infrared (NIR) photothermal therapy of HT29 and SW48 colon cancer cells. The biocompatibility of GT-rGO sheets was investigated by means of MTT assays.
