    Abstract
The principal objective involved in this research is to explore the mechanical behaviour of the binder using different mineral fillers such as stone dust (SD), brick dust (BD) and fly ash Class F (FA). Currently, a large quantity of roads is being constructed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. It is a major concern for quality of road to with stand heavy loads. For the investigation of the quality of roads, it is mandatory to evaluate the behaviour of mineral fillers addition in asphalt mastic. Fatigue cracking, thermal cracking and permanent deformation have been found a major common distress in the construction of road networks. In this study, the behaviour of...

Using a classifier pool in accuracy based tracking of recurring concepts in data stream classification

    , Article Evolving Systems ; Volume 4, Issue 1 , 2013 , Pages 43-60 ; 18686478 (ISSN) Hosseini, M. J ; Ahmadi, Z ; Beigy, H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Data streams have some unique properties which make them applicable in precise modeling of many real data mining applications. The most challenging property of data streams is the occurrence of "concept drift". Recurring concepts is a type of concept drift which can be seen in most of real world problems. Detecting recurring concepts makes it possible to exploit previous knowledge obtained in the learning process. This leads to quick adaptation of the learner whenever a concept reappears. In this paper, we propose a learning algorithm called Pool and Accuracy based Stream Classification with some variations, which takes the advantage of maintaining a pool of classifiers to track recurring...

Inhibiting asphaltene precipitation from Iranian crude oil using various dispersants: Experimental investigation through viscometry and thermodynamic modelling

    , Article Fluid Phase Equilibria ; Volume 442 , 2017 , Pages 104-118 ; 03783812 (ISSN) Saeedi Dehaghani, A. H ; Badizad, M. H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2017
    Abstract
Asphaltene precipitation is a major assurance problem posing significant technical and economic loss on petroleum industry. To tackle this issue, various treatments have been proposed and applied by industry. Amongst, inhibiting or retarding the asphaltene precipitation has been understood as the most efficient approach. In this regard, blending crude oil with chemical additives could appreciably heighten its stability. Surfactants, owing to amphiphilic nature, could keep asphaltene dissolved in crude oil by precluding self-tendency of those particles to making agglomerates. Despite importance of this subject, there is still lack of sufficient experimental data to evaluate effectiveness of...

Synthesis, crystal structure and DNA interaction of a new water-soluble derivative of pyrazino[2,3-f][1,10] phenanthroline; theoretical calculations, experimental and molecular docking studies

    , Article Journal of Molecular Structure ; Volume 1165 , 2018 , Pages 267-275 ; 00222860 (ISSN) Aminzadeh, M ; Eslami, A ; Kia, R ; Aleeshah, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2018
    Abstract
The new water-soluble derivative of pyrazino[2,3-f][1,10] phenanthroline has been synthesized and characterized by conductivity measurement, elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectroscopic studies, as well as single crystal x-ray crystallography. Theoretical calculations have been performed using the density functional theory (DFT) in order to confirm the structure and understand the electronic structure of the synthesized compound. The DNA binding properties of the compound were investigated by absorption spectroscopy, melting temperature and viscosity measurements. The intrinsic binding constant, Kb, was determined as 7.84 × 103 M−1 at 298 K. Thermodynamic parameters showed that...

Application of sustainable saffron purple petals as an eco-friendly green additive for drilling fluids: A rheological, filtration, morphological, and corrosion inhibition study

    , Article Journal of Molecular Liquids ; Volume 315 , 2020 Ghaderi, S ; Haddadi, S. A ; Davoodi, S ; Arjmand, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2020
    Abstract
In this study, effects of dried saffron purple petals (SPP) powder were examined on the rheological, fluid loss, and corrosion inhibition properties of bentonite-based drilling fluids. Drilling fluids containing different amounts of the SPP powder were prepared and their rheological behavior was investigated via the rotary viscometry and rheometric mechanical spectroscopy (RMS). Rotary viscometer results were fitted with Power-law, Bingham plastic, and Herschel-Bulkley models and the obtained data were compared with that of the base mud. All models fitted the rotary viscometer data with the determination coefficients higher than 0.93. The presence of 3 wt% of the SSP in the fluid...

Processing study of gel-cast tubular porous NiO/SDC composite materials from gel-combustion synthesized nanopowder

    , Article Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology ; Volume 97, Issue 3 , 2021 , Pages 581-592 ; 09280707 (ISSN) Oveisi, S ; khakpour, Z ; Faghihi sani, M. A ; Kazemzad, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Springer  2021
    Abstract
In the present research, NiO–SDC (Samarium doped Ceria) nanopowder was synthesized through sol–gel combustion method using citric acid as a reducing agent (fuel) and metal nitrates as an oxidant. The characteristics of the synthesized powder were thoroughly analyzed by DTA/TG, XRD, BET and FESEM/EDX. Tubular gel-casted porous specimens of NiO–SDC (50:50 wt%) composite materials were produced after stabilizing suspensions of composite powder in an aqueous environment by addition of 3 wt% dispersant and 2.5 wt% agar as the gel builder. The effect of Dolapix CE64 as a dispersant, agar as a gel-builder and the amount of solid loadings on the processing and properties of porous ceramics was...

Preparation of ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene/carbon nanotube nanocomposites with a Ziegler-Natta catalytic system and investigation of their thermal and mechanical properties

    , Article Journal of Applied Polymer Science ; Volume 125, Issue SUPPL. 1 , 2012 , Pages E453-E461 ; 00218995 (ISSN) Amoli, B. M ; Ramazani, S. A. A ; Izadi, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Wiley  2012
    Abstract
In this research, ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE)/multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanocomposites with different nanotube concentrations (0.5, 1.5, 2.5, and 3.5 wt %) were prepared via in situ polymerization with a novel, bisupported Ziegler-Natta catalytic system. Magnesium ethoxide [Mg(OEt) 2] and surface-functionalized MWCNTs were used as the support of the catalyst. Titanium tetrachloride (TiCl 4) accompanied by triethylaluminum constituted the Ziegler-Natta catalytic system. Preparation of the catalyst and the polymerization were carried out in the slurry phase under an argon atmosphere. Support of the catalyst on the MWCNTs was investigated with Fourier transform...

Thermal stability and thermal decomposition steps of ASM were studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). An Ubbelhode capillary viscometer and a rheological mechanical spectrometer (RMS) were employed to obtain the specific, relative, and...
