    Abstract
    In this study, we have used a low temperature plasma, produced by a DC magnetron sputtering device, for decolorizing of denim fabrics, and the effect of using different gases such as Argon and Oxygen as the discharge medium have been investigated.     Enhanced soil remediation via plant-based surfactant compounds from acanthophyllum laxiusculum

    Abstract
    In the present study, an aqueous root-extract of Acanthophyllum laxiusculum (AREAL) was evaluated for phenanthrene removal from two samples of contaminated soil. AREAL showed a linear solubilization enhancement for phenanthrene with a weight solubilization ratio of 0.05. Batch soil washing experiments caused the removal of phenanthrene with efficiencies of 96.7% and 78% from soils with 0.78% and 2.73% organic carbon, respectively. Desorption kinetics of phenanthrene exhibited a twophase pattern, namely, a rapid release as the initial phase and a slower removal as a subsequent phase.     This article presents the research results on production and performance of palladium-only catalytic converters. Monolith is used as catalyst carrier and gamma alumina as substrate. Dipping method is used for monolith washcoating. Palladium as the active metal is impregnated on gamma alumina using wet impregnation to produce catalyst samples. The effects of factors such as percent solid in slurry, milling time, calcination time and temperature, pH and existence of Al(NO3)3 on wash-coat characteristics were studied experimentally.     In this study, at first the V2O5 spent catalysts were characterized. The aim was to identifying whether these catalyst may be regenerated. Then, for feasibility study of them, three methods were applied: washing, diffusion and milling the spent catalysts for their subsequent reproduction. A variety of techniques such as XRD, XRF, AAS, TPR and TPO were applied in order to identify factors contributing in vanadium pentoxide catalysts deactivation. The results showed that approximately all of pollutants caused their performance deterioration, while they still have some active phases.     Abstract
    The effect of up velocity and influent COD concentration on the activity of sulphate-reducing bacteria (SRB) in UASB reactors is discussed. To study these effects, four UASB reactors were built and utilized in parallel. Examinations were carried out in two different concentrations of molasses (500 mg COD/l and 1000 mg COD/l) and four different upward flow velocities. It was observed that at velocities greater than 1 m/h, SRB bacteria were easily washed out from the reactors due to lower density and lack of ability to form dense and firm granules.     Polypropylene (PP) has a very low value of the surface free energy (approximately 20-25 mJ m-2). And thus, has very weak hydrophilic properties and doesn't have any affinity to any dyestuffs, such as cationic or anionic dyes. In this study, we covered some parts of PP fabrics by mask, and then irradiated them by electrons with different energies. After electron irradiation, the samples were dyed by cationic dyestuff.     Zinc-stearate-layered hydroxide nanohybrid was prepared using stearate anion as an organic guest, and zinc layered hydroxide nitrate, as a layered inorganic host by the ion-exchange method. Powder X-ray diffraction patterns and Fourier transform infrared results indicated that the stearate anion was actually intercalated into the interlayer of zinc layered hydroxide nitrate and confirmed the formation of the host-guest nanohybrid material.     Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) was produced from castor oil using washed cells of Lactobacillus plantarum PTCC 1058 and Lactobacillus plantarum subsp. plantarum PTCC1745 as the catalyst. Under the optimal reaction conditions, the washed cells of Lactobacillus plantarum PTCC1058 produced 1661.26 mg of CLA/L reaction mixture (36% yield of production) from 4.6 mg/ml of castor oil after using 15% (w/v) cell for 121 h.     Reclaimed silica from spent lead-acid battery separator was exploited by pyrolysis process to avoid further extraction of raw materials and energy-consuming methods and was mixed with ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene as a matrix to fabricate a workable separator to be used in a simulated procedure in a lead-acid battery.     Copper-succinate-layered hydroxide (CSLH), a new nanohybrid material, was synthesized as an inorganic-organic nanohybrid, in which organic moiety was intercalated between the layers of a single cation layered material, copper hydroxide nitrate. Microporous scaffold carbon material was obtained by thermal decomposition of the nanohybrid at 500°C under argon atmosphere followed by acid washing process. Furthermore, the heat-treated product of the nanohybrid at 600°C was ultrafine mesoporous metallic copper particles.
