    Abstract
To mitigate environmental pollution and food contamination caused by inappropriate and excessive herbicide usage, most potent herbicides should be screened to control rice weeds. A research trial was executed for assessing the comparative efficacy of different herbicides to control rice field weeds and to evaluate the toxicity on rice under normal (distilled water) as well as different salinity levels (4 and 8 dS m-1). The study was designed to select the most potent herbicide and its appropriate dose for weed control of rice crop in coastal areas. Fourteen herbicidal treatments were included weed free crop, Pretilachlor (0.25, 0.50, 0.375 and 0.75 kg a.i. ha-1), Propanil + Thiobencarb (0.6...

A conically fixed position single drop microextraction method for isolation of aryloxyphenoxypropionate herbicides from aquatic media

    , Article Analytical Methods ; Volume 5, Issue 18 , Jul , 2013 , Pages 4846-4851 ; 17599660 (ISSN) Bagheri, H ; Dehghan, M ; Es'Haghi, A ; Naderi, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
A new and convenient format of single drop microextraction (SDME) was developed and applied for isolation of some selected aryloxyphenoxypropionate herbicides from aquatic media. In contrast to the conventional SDME procedure, in this set-up the extraction microdrop was positioned at the bottom of a conical vial in order to provide much higher stability for the organic extraction phase while a magnetic bar was used for stirring the aqueous solution. A simple magnet was used for positioning the bar on the top of the microdrop prior to stirring. The whole set-up led to the use of any volume of extraction solvent with unlimited stirring rates. Some important extraction parameters such as the...

Immersed solvent microextraction of aryloxyphenoxypropionate herbicides from aquatic media

    , Article International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry ; Volume 93, Issue 4 , Feb , 2013 , Pages 450-460 ; 03067319 (ISSN) Bagheri, H ; Es'haghi, A ; Es-haghi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
An immersed solvent microextraction (SME) method was successfully developed for the trace enrichment of aryloxyphenoxypropionate herbicides from aquatic media. A microdrop of toluene was used as the extraction solvent. Some important extraction parameters such as type of solvent, solvent dropsize, stirring rate, ionic strength and extraction time were investigated and optimized. The microdrop volume of 1.5 μL, a sampling time of 25 min, and use of toluene were major parameters for achieving high enrichment factors. The linearity was studied by preconcentration of 4 mL of the water samples spiked with a standard solution of aryloxyphenoxypropionates at the concentration range of 0.15 to 30 ng...

Comparative studies on Ag3PO4/BiPO4-metal-organic framework-graphene-based nanocomposites for photocatalysis application

    Abstract
For the first time, we report novel Ag3PO4/BiPO4 (AB)-graphene-based photocatalysts. The fabricated nanocomposites were characterized by various techniques. The photocatalytic properties of the prepared catalysts were evaluated by the photodegradation of Atrazine herbicide under both visible and UV light irradiation. Atrazine concentration was determined using the spectrophotometric method according to the Konig's reaction by monitoring the absorbance at 470 nm wavelength during the photodegradation process. Both degradation rate and efficiency using graphene (GR)-based nanocomposites are found to be much better than using pure AB. Atrazine photodegradation displayed that the AB supporting...

Resorcinol-formaldehyde xerogel as a micro-solid-phase extraction sorbent for the determination of herbicides in aquatic environmental samples

    , Article Journal of Separation Science ; Volume 38, Issue 13 , 2015 , Pages 2305-2311 ; 16159306 (ISSN) Es Haghi, A ; Zare, M ; Piri Moghadam, H ; Bagheri, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this study, organic aerogels were synthesized by the sol-gel polycondensation of mixed cresol with formaldehyde in a slightly basic aqueous solution. Carbon aerogels and xerogels are generated by pyrolysis of organic aerogels. The novel sol-gel-based micro-solid-phase extraction sorbent, resorcinol-formaldehyde xerogel, was employed for preconcentration of some selected herbicides. Three herbicides of the aryloxyphenoxypropionate group, clodinafop-propargyl, haloxyfop-etotyl, and fenoxaprop-P-ethyl, were extracted from aqueous samples by micro-solid-phase extraction and subsequently determined by gas chromatography with mass spectrometry. The effect of different parameters influencing the...

Membrane protected conductive polymer as micro-SPE device for the determination of triazine herbicides in aquatic media

    , Article Journal of Separation Science ; Volume 33, Issue 8 , 2010 , Pages 1132-1138 ; 16159306 (ISSN) Bagheri, H ; Khalilian, F ; Naderi, M ; Babanezhad, E ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A micro-SPE technique was developed by fabricating a rather small package including a polypropylene membrane shield containing the appropriate sorbent. The package was used for the extraction of some triazine herbicides from aqueous samples. Solvent desorption was subsequently performed in a microvial and an aliquot of extractant was injected into GC-MS. Various sorbents including aniline-ortho-phenylene diamine copolymer, newly synthesized, polypyrrole, multiwall carbon nanotube, C18 and charcoal were examined as extracting media. Among them, conductive polymers exhibited better performance. Influential parameters including extraction and desorption time, desorption solvent and the ionic...

Laser irradiation for controlling size of TiO2-Zeolite nanocomposite in removal of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid herbicide

    Abstract
This study focused on the synthesis of TiO2-Zeolite nanocomposite through a sol-gel approach. The decrease in the size of the nanocomposite is considered a primary parameter to improve photocatalytic activity. In this regard, fabricated samples were exposed to laser irradiation (532 nm) for four different time intervals in order to investigate the size variation of the nanocomposite. FTIR, UV-Vis, XRD, DLS, SEM and EDX analyses were applied to characterize and determine the size of the products. An optimized nanocomposite sample, in term of the particle size, was used for photodegradation of 2,4-D herbicide from aqueous solution. Photodegradation was carried out under UV irradiation (12 W)...
