    Abstract
Today, coordinated expansion planning is one of the key challenges for electricity systems including active distribution networks (ADNs) and transmission networks (TNs) hosting distributed renewable generation as well as large-scale wind energy generation. Accordingly, this study presents a decentralised hybrid robust and stochastic (HR&S) expansion planning optimisation method to determine a robust generation and transmission planning for a TN and stochastic expansion planning for ADNs. The proposed HR&S planning model is formulated with the objective of achieving an effective expansion of both TN&ADN while minimises the investment and operation costs of TN&ADN planning considering wind...

Investigation of core loss effect on steady-state characteristics of inverter fed brushless doubly fed machines

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion ; Volume 29, Issue 1 , March , 2014 , Pages 57-64 ; ISSN: 08858969 Hashemnia, M. N ; Tahami, F ; Oyarbide, E ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Brushless doubly fed machine (BDFM) shows promising results for wind power and adjustable-speed drive applications. Due to poor rotor magnetic coupling and relatively high value of slip, core loss is an important factor which can affect the steady-state and dynamic performance of BDFM. Specifically, core loss plays a major role when evaluating the efficiency of the machine. By now, there is no comprehensive study on core loss effect on performance characteristics of BDFM in the literature. In this paper, based on the derived relations and applying transformation of parameters from one winding to another one, the steady-state equivalent circuit model of BDFM without core loss is modified in...

    Abstract
The Brushless Doubly Fed Induction Machine (BDFIM) has the potential to be used as a generator or motor in adjustable speed variables. But the most important application for the BDFM is to work as a wind generator. Due to this ability it can be considered as a rival for the Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) that is the most common type of the wind power generators nowadays. Because of problems of relater to brushes in DFIG, the BDFM has more resisted structure compared to the DFIG. Thanks to the special “nested loop” structure of rotor and two different coils on the stator without direct coupling between them, three different operation modes are possible for the BDFM.The synchronous...

    Abstract
Brushless doubly fed machine (BDFM) shows promising results for wind power and adjustable-speed drive applications. Due to poor rotor magnetic coupling and relatively high value of slip, core loss is more emphasized in this machine than the conventional machines. By now, there are few comprehensive researches on core loss effect on performance characteristics of BDFM in the literature. In this paper, based on the derived relations and by applying suitable rules for transformation of parameters from one winding to another one, the steady state equivalent circuit model of BDFM referred to power winding stator side is obtained. Comparison between simulation and experimental results verifies the...
