    Abstract
Synthesis and characterization of metal dithiocarbamate complexes of N 1 ,N 3 -dicinnamylpropane-1,3-diamine, N 1 ,N 4 -dicinnamylbutane-1,4-diamine and N 1 ,N 6 -dicinnamylhexane-1,6-diamine are reported. The ligands are prepared using cinnamaldehyde and primary diamines to provide the corresponding diimines, followed by reduction with NaBH 4 to afford the corresponding secondary diamines. Diamines react with carbon disulfide in basic medium to furnish the corresponding bis(dithiocarbamate) salts, which underwent complexation with metals. The prepared complexes were characterized by IR, 1 H and 13 C NMR, TGA and elemental analyses. Although the dinuclear metal dithiocarbamate macrocyclic...

Microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of friction stir welded AA2017 with different initial microstructures

    , Article Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part L: Journal of Materials: Design and Applications ; Vol. 228, issue. 1 , 2014 , p. 34-44 Mirjalili, A ; Jamshidi Aval, H ; Serajzadeh, S ; Kokabi, A. H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Residual stresses, local mechanical properties, and microstructural evolution in terms of grain structures and precipitation distribution have been studied in friction stir welding of AA2017 in T4 and T6 conditions. Microstructural studies including optical and electron microscopy were made to characterize the developed microstructures in different zones of the weldment. Furthermore, X-ray diffraction technique and digital image correlation technique were also utilized to assess residual stress and mechanical properties of the welded alloy. The results show that coarsening of semi-coherent plate-shaped precipitates and formation of incoherent spherical-shaped particles occur in heat affected...

Effect of welding parameters on residual stresses in dissimilar joint of stainless steel to carbon steel

    , Article Journal of Materials Science ; Volume 46, Issue 9 , 2011 , Pages 3225-3232 ; 00222461 (ISSN) Ranjbarnodeh, E ; Serajzadeh, S ; Kokabi, A. H ; Fischer, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
In this study, a thermo-mechanical model was utilized to investigate the effects of welding parameters on the distribution of residual stresses in dissimilar TIG welds of low carbon and ferritic stainless steels. To solve the governing thermal and mechanical problems, a finite element program, ANSYS, was employed while the different aspects such as welding sequence and dilution were considered in the numerical solution. To validate the predictions, the model results were compared with the residual stresses measured by X-ray diffraction technique and a reasonable agreement was found. The results show that the magnitude of tensile residual stresses decrease as the welding current increases...

    , Article Corrosion Engineering Science and Technology ; Volume 50, Issue 8 , 2015 , Pages 595-600 ; 1478422X (ISSN) Hosseini, S. A ; Akbarinia, S ; Mohammadyani, D ; Sadrnezhaad, S. K ; Sharif University of Technology
    Maney Publishing  2015
    Abstract
In this study, corrosion behaviour of porous NiTi modified by plasma sprayed alumina coating has been investigated. Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction techniques were applied for the morphology and microstructure characterisation, while linear sweep voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were used for investigation of corrosion behaviour of coated and uncoated NiTi specimens. Induced couple plasma was conducted to measure ion release of the specimens in simulated body fluid at 37°C. The plasma sprayed Al2O3 coating on the porous NiTi improved the surface characteristics for biomedical applications. The alumina coating significantly hampered Ni ion release from...

The effect of reinforcement percentages on properties of copper matrix composites reinforced with TiC particles

    , Article Journal of Alloys and Compounds ; Volume 676 , 2016 , Pages 120-126 ; 09258388 (ISSN) Bagheri, Gh. A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd
    Abstract
In this research, copper matrix composites reinforced with different amounts of titanium carbide particles were produced by mechanical milling and in-situ formation of reinforcements. Morphology and size of milled powders were inspected by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) several times during milling process. Changes in lattice parameter, crystallite size, lattice strain, dislocation density and Gibbs free energy changes (due to increasing in dislocation densities and grain boundaries) in different samples (with different TiC particles contents) were studied by X-Ray Diffraction technique with Cu-kα radiation and using Nelson-Riley method and Williamson-Hall equation. Microstructure of...

Experimental investigation and crystal plasticity-based prediction of AA1050 sheet formability

    , Article Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture ; Volume 231, Issue 8 , 2017 , Pages 1341-1349 ; 09544054 (ISSN) Hajian, M ; Assempour, A ; Akbarzadeh, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    SAGE Publications Ltd  2017
    Abstract
This article presents a crystal plasticity methodology to evaluate the AA1050 sheet formability. In order to determine the orientation distribution of the crystals, initial texture of the material is measured through X-ray diffraction technique. Also, the stress-strain behavior of the material is determined by performing tensile test. In order to simulate the path-dependent crystal plasticity behavior of body-centered cubic crystal structures, a UMAT subroutine that employs the rate-dependent crystal plasticity model along with the power law hardening was developed previously by the authors and linked to the finite element software ABAQUS. This subroutine was further developed to simulate...

    Abstract
This article reports the synthesis of a magnetic heterogeneous catalyst through the decoration of gold ions onto the cross-linked polymeric nanocomposite from 2,6-diaminopyridine. The activity of the resulting catalyst was then evaluated in the bromination of aromatic compounds. The nitrogen rich support showed a high affinity to gold ions, and the measured content of Au was 0.76 mmol g-1. The structure of the catalyst was fully characterized by using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, atomic absorption spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscope, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area...

    Abstract
In the study presented herein, a simple method for laboratory calcite cementation of a reconstituted gravelly sand was presented. This method was used to prepare cemented gravelly sand specimens, which have similar natural characteristics to alluvial deposit of the city of Tehran. The formation and distribution of calcite bonds, as well as the effectiveness of the presented calcite cementation method in increasing interparticle cohesion, as observed in weakly to moderately cemented soil in Tehran, were evaluated by means of chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction technique, and unconfined compressive strength tests. The cementation technique was used to prepare triaxial specimens with calcite...

    Abstract
The dearth of efficient, robust, and economical electrocatalysts for water oxidation is dubiously the key obstacle for renewable energy devices, so synthesis of efficient, and cost-effective metal-based water oxidation catalysts is vital. Herein, Co3O4, Co9S8 catalysts and their heterostructure Co3O4/Co9S8 were synthesized and evaluated as water oxidation electrocatalysts. The characterization of Co3O4, Co9S8, and Co3O4/Co9S8 electrocatalysts was performed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction techniques. The heterostructure Co3O4/Co9S8 (1.46 V) exhibited water oxidation electrocatalysis at extremely low onset potential compared to...
