    , Article Journal of Superconductivity and Novel Magnetism ; Volume 23, Issue 7 , 2010 , Pages 1385-1389 ; 15571939 (ISSN) Khosroabadi, H ; Kobayashi, J ; Tanaka, K ; Miyasaka, S ; Tajima, S ; Uchiyama, H ; Baron, A. Q. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Single crystals of Ba 1-x K x BiO 3 compound for different values of x (0 x 0.6) from insulator to superconducting region have been grown by electrochemical method. The crystals have been characterized by powder X-ray diffraction and Laue X-ray to determine the crystal structure, phases and potassium concentration. The phonon dispersion of the crystals in (100) direction has been investigated by high-resolution inelastic X-ray scattering. The phonon dispersion for low energy region is almost similar for all crystals measured in this study, while the higher energy modes shift to higher energy by increasing the potassium concentration. Anomalous softening of highest energy phonon has been...

Ionic liquids enhanced performance of PVC gels actuator

    Abstract
Stimulated devices are highly demanded for actuators and artificial muscles in the recent era but susceptible to low deformation at an applied voltage. In the present work, ionic liquids (ILs) based gel films were prepared from the polyvinyl chloride (PVC), dibutyl adipate (DBA), 1-butyl, 3-methimidazolium chloride, and 1-pentyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate by a simple solvent evaporation method. The structural, morphological, optical, and mechanical properties of the composite PVC/ILs gel were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Large Angle X-ray scattering (LAXS), UV–visible (UV–vis) absorption spectroscopy, scanning electron micrpscopy (SEM) and...

Co-crystallization in ternary polyethylene blends: tie crystal formation and mechanical properties improvement

    , Article Polymer International ; Volume 65, Issue 12 , 2016 , Pages 1405-1416 ; 09598103 (ISSN) Eslamian, M ; Bagheri, R ; Pircheraghi, G ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Understanding the co-crystallization behavior of ternary polyethylene (PE) blends is a challenging task. Herein, in addition to co-crystallization behavior, the rheological and mechanical properties of melt compounded high density polyethylene (HDPE)/low density polyethylene (LDPE)/Zeigler − Natta linear low density polyethylene (ZN-LLDPE) blends have been studied in detail. The HDPE content of the blends was kept constant at 40 wt% and the LDPE/ZN-LLDPE ratio was varied from 0.5 to 2. Rheological measurements confirmed the melt miscibility of the entire blends. Study of the crystalline structure of the blends using DSC, wide angle X-ray scattering, small angle X-ray scattering and field...

Runaway electron energy measurement using hard x-ray spectroscopy in "damavand" tokamak

    , Article Review of Scientific Instruments ; Volume 80, Issue 1 , 2009 ; 00346748 (ISSN) Rasouli, C ; Iraji, D ; Farahbod, A. H ; Akhtari, K ; Rasouli, H ; Modarresi, H ; Lamehi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
Set of experiments has been developed to study existing runaway electrons in "Damavand" tokamak plasma upon characteristics of hard x-ray emissions produced by collision of the runaway electrons with the plasma particles and limiters. As a first step, spatial distribution of hard x-ray emissions on the equatorial plane of the torus was considered. Obtained spectra of hard x-ray emissions for different alignments of shielded detector indicate isotropic emissivity in the equatorial plane. This is in agreement with wide angle cone of bremsstrahlung radiations, deduced from the mean value of energy of the runaway electrons. The mean energy was calculated from the slope of the energy spectrum of...

Effect of graphene oxide on morphological and structural properties of graphene reinforced novolac-derived carbon aerogels: A modified Quasi-Percolation Model

    Abstract
Graphene reinforced polymer derived carbon (carbon/graphene) aerogels were synthesized by carbonization of novolac/graphene oxide aerogels. Novolac/graphene oxide aerogels were synthesized using solvent-saturated-vapor-atmosphere technique. To this aim, 20 wt% solution of novolac resin with 0, 2, and 5 wt% graphene oxide in 2-propanol were made and were cured in an autoclave. Wet aerogels were dried in air and were carbonized at 800 °C in nitrogen atmosphere. Eliminating the time-consuming methods of drying like supercritical and freeze drying is one of the advantages of this method of synthesis of organic aerogles. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron...
