Characterization of optical properties of amorphous BaTiO3 nanothin films

    , Article Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids ; Volume 355, Issue 50-51 , 2009 , Pages 2480-2484 ; 00223093 (ISSN) Ashiri, R ; Nemati, A ; Sasani Ghamsari, M ; Aadelkhani, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Amorphous barium titanate nanothin films were prepared by sol-gel dip-coating method. According to transmission spectrum, the refractive index and optical band gap of nanothin films have been determined. High transmission spectrum without any fluctuation in visible wavelength region was recorded. Experimental results indicated that the surface morphology of prepared nanothin films were improved and as a result of that, a better optical properties, less optical losses and higher band gap width were obtained in contrast with other reported data. It was found that optical propagation loss of BaTiO3 nanothin film was much lower than normal polycrystalline BaTiO3 thin film. It seems to us that,...

Novel Approach Towards Mechanical and Thermal Resistant Capillary Microextraction by Sol-Gel Technique in On-Line Combination with High Performance Liquid Chromatography

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Piri-Moghadam, Hamed (Author) ; Bagheri, Habib (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, a new approach was developed to achieve mechanical and chemical resistant capillary microextraction (CME) in on-line combination with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) based on sol-gel technology. This thesis is divided into three chapters:
First chapter contains of two parts. Overcoming the lack of mechanical stability of the substrate of CME by replacing the fused silica by copper tubings was the main objective of the first part. Self-assembled monolayers technique was employed to functionalize the copper tube followed by chemical bonding of the sorbent on the inner surface of the copper tube by sol-gel technology. The prepared copper tube containing the...

Application of sol-gel based molecularly imprinted xerogel for on-line capillary microextraction of fentanyl from urine and plasma samples

    , Article Analytical Methods ; Volume 5, Issue 24 , 2013 , Pages 7096-7101 ; 17599660 (ISSN) Bagheri, H ; Piri-Moghadam, H ; Bayat, P ; Balalaie, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
A molecularly imprinted xerogel (MIX) for fentanyl was successfully prepared on the inner surface of a copper tube by sol-gel technology. Primarily, the tube was treated by self-assembly monolayers of 3-(mercaptopropyl) trimethoxysilane and then [3-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)-propyl]-trimethoxysilane was employed as a precursor for imprinting the template molecule in acidic conditions. During the sol-gel process influential parameters including volume and concentration of fentanyl were carefully investigated to obtain the most efficient and appropriate xerogel. In parallel, a non-imprinted xerogel (NIX) was synthesized in the absence of fentanyl. The extraction efficiencies achieved from MIX and NIX,...

Sol-gel-based molecularly imprinted xerogel for capillary microextraction

    , Article Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry ; Volume 404, Issue 5 , September , 2012 , Pages 1597-1602 ; 16182642 (ISSN) Bagheri, H ; Piri-Moghadam, H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
A novel molecularly imprinted xerogel (MIX) based on organically modified silica (ORMOSIL) was successfully prepared for on-line capillary microextraction (CME) coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The sol-gel-based xerogel was prepared using only one precursor and exhibited extensive selectivity towards triazines along with significant thermal and chemical stability. Atrazine was selected as a model template molecule and 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propylmethacrylate (TMSPMA) as a precursor in which the propylmethacrylate moiety was responsible for van der Waals, dipole-dipole, and hydrogen-bond interactions with the template. This moiety plays a key role in creation of...

Resorcinol-formaldehyde xerogel as a micro-solid-phase extraction sorbent for the determination of herbicides in aquatic environmental samples

    , Article Journal of Separation Science ; Volume 38, Issue 13 , 2015 , Pages 2305-2311 ; 16159306 (ISSN) Es Haghi, A ; Zare, M ; Piri Moghadam, H ; Bagheri, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this study, organic aerogels were synthesized by the sol-gel polycondensation of mixed cresol with formaldehyde in a slightly basic aqueous solution. Carbon aerogels and xerogels are generated by pyrolysis of organic aerogels. The novel sol-gel-based micro-solid-phase extraction sorbent, resorcinol-formaldehyde xerogel, was employed for preconcentration of some selected herbicides. Three herbicides of the aryloxyphenoxypropionate group, clodinafop-propargyl, haloxyfop-etotyl, and fenoxaprop-P-ethyl, were extracted from aqueous samples by micro-solid-phase extraction and subsequently determined by gas chromatography with mass spectrometry. The effect of different parameters influencing the...

Supramolecular self-assembly of oleylamide into organogels and hydrogels: a simple approach in phase selective gelation of oil spills

    Abstract
A new gelator based of oleylamide has been introduced, which was gelled nonpolar hydrocarbon and CCl4 solvents through self-assembly. Also, the gelator formed a two-component hydrogel in combination with SDS, an anionic surfactant. UV-Vis studies revealed that the H-type and J-type aggregation of organogels in hexane and hydrogel in water, respectively. The xerogel, obtained by evaporating the solvent of organogel, selectively gelled and adsorbed oil spills on water surfaces. The effect of the various parameters, including temperature, water acidity and pH on the oil spill adsorption was studied, revealing the high ability of the xerogel to removing the oil contamination from water in up to...

    Abstract
This review is mostly focused on the recently emerged methodologies for preparing the appropriate extracting media with enhanced capacity, stability and selectivity, which could be used in capillary microextraction (CME). We particularly consider conductive polymers, sol-gel-based materials, monolithic coatings, molecularly-imprinted polymers and xerogels. Moreover, we discuss recent advances in configuration of CME, array capillaries and unbreakable substrates

Resorcinol-Formaldehyde Xerogel for Analysis of Environmental Pollutant in Aqueous Sample

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zare, Maryam (Author) ; Bagheri, Habib (Supervisor) ; Es-haghi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, a new resorcinol-formaldehyde xerogel was synthesized based on sol-gel technology and employed as a sorbent for micro solid phase extraction (µ-SPE) of BTEX and some selected pesticides from aqueous samples.
In the first part, a µ-SPE method in combined with headspace solvent microextraction (HS-SME) along with gas chromatography- mass spectrometry detection (GC–MS) was developed for the analysis of BTEX in aqueous samples. In our knowledge, this is for the first time that these two different extraction methods has been coupled to maximize the advantage of each extraction method. Influential parameters such as the peristaltic pump flow rate, extraction volume, extraction...
