, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Soltani, Adel (Author) ; Sadighi-Bonabi, Rasoul (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nd:YAG laser is one of the most applicable laser for researches and development where it's basic wavelength and harmonics are used on different laser project. It's basic output has a wide pulse duration and low peak power ,therefore in order to increase the peak power the pulse duration is reduced by Q-switching.In this project by means of passive Q-switch technique an energy equivalent to 500 mj with 10to 20 ns pulse duration is extracted from the oscillator and the output energy is amplified to about 850mj in a single pass through amplifier. In this project we used saturable absorber for Q-switching because it is more optimum and simpler than other Q-switching techniques like...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nazari Khakshour, Abdollah (Author) ; Sadighi Bonabi, Rasoul (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nd:YAG laser is one of the most applicable lasers on laser researches where it’s basic wavelength and higher harmonics are used on different laser projects. It should be realized that it’s basic output has a wide pulse duration and lower peak power. Therefore, in order to increase the peak power the pulse duration is reduced by Q-switching.
In this project, in the first step, based on flash-lamp pump Nd:YAG laser a 600 mj energy per 60 µs pulse is constructed. Then a pulse duration is shorten by order of more than 3000 via electro-optics Q-switching system where we could reach up to 19 ns pulses and laser peak power is increased up to several megawatts

Dye Laser Pumped by a Second Harmonic of a Nd:YAG Laser

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rahbari, Mohammad (Author) ; Sedighi Bonabi, Rasoul (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The aim ofthis work is constructing a dye laser pumped in visible spectrum by a second harmonic of aNd:YAG laser. For this purpose, 12mJ of its energy focused by a cylendrical lens into a dye cell. Instead of usual telescope, making aberration in two dimensions, we have used multi prism beam expander to eliminate aberration and also expand beam beyond 10 times. The more magnification resulted in narrowing laser linewidth and it was about 2 nm for two prism beam expander and 0.5 nm for four prism beam expander.
Beam expander configurations were designed in zero dispersioncondition. Therefore, scanning laser spectrum becomes possible. The wavelength was scanned between 565 nm to595 nm, and...

    Abstract
Tunability of the Fermi level of graphene is exploited to implement a plasmonic nano-color-sorter for scanning near-field optical microscope (SNOM) applications capable of handling large tip sample couplings. Nano-color-sorting has been used in SNOM through creating multiple spatially separated hot spots for different incident wavelengths. We show that in the presence of high-refractive-index samples an unwanted redshift in the spectral response of the dual-color probe occurs. This limitation can be compensated for using graphene and adjusting its chemical potential to obtain a blueshift in probe spectral response. The Method of Moments analysis technique is employed to engineer the probe...

    , Article Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics ; Volume 46, Issue 16 , March , 2013 ; 00223727 (ISSN) Mortazavi, S. Z ; Parvin, P ; Reyhani, A ; Mirershadi, S ; Sadighi Bonabi, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
A wide variety of carbon nanostructures were generated by a Q-switched Nd : YAG laser (1064 nm) while mostly nanodiamonds were created by an ArF excimer laser (193 nm) in deionized water. They were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It was found that the IR laser affected the morphology and structure of the nanostructures due to the higher inverse bremsstrahlung absorption rate within the plasma plume with respect to the UV laser. Moreover, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy was carried out so that the plasma created by the IR laser was more energetic than that generated by the UV laser

    Abstract
The present paper reports the effects of Nd:YAG laser welding on the microstructure, phase transformation, cyclic deformation behavior, and corrosion resistance of Ti-55 wt.% Ni wire. The results showed that the laser welding altered the microstructure of the weld metal which mainly composed of columnar dendrites grown epitaxially from the fusion line. DSC results indicated that the onset of the transformation temperatures of the weld metal differed from that of the base metal. Cyclic stress-strain behavior of laser-welded NiTi wire was comparable to the as-received material; while a little reduction in the pseudo-elastic property was noted. The weld metal exhibited higher corrosion...
