  7. Abstract:
  8. Conventional induction motors are controlled by stator voltage, so the inverter should pass the full power of the motor. In the doubly-fed rotor wound induction motors, the nominal power of inverter can be reduced. Therefore, these types of machines have been concerned in recent decades and they are able to use as alternative for high power conventional induction machines in the future. Direct torque control is one of the well known methods for controlling the induction motors. Fast torque response and independence of machine parameters (except winding resistance). In this thesis, different sterategies of direct torque control of doubly fed induction motors are presented. In the first method, stator is connected to the grid directly and motor is controlled by inverter which is connected to rotor side. In the second and third methods, motor is controlled by two inverters which are connected to both stator and rotor sides. In the second method, stator and rotor are controlled according to torque value and flux magnitude, but in the third method rotor is controlled according to the torque and flux values and stator is controlled based on magnitude and phase of flux vector. Various simulations are presented for all of these methods and their results are compared from ability of loss minimization and power division in both machine sides point of views. Furthermore, for implementation, an inverter is designed and implemented for applying different control methods on motor by DSP board
