  7. Abstract:
  8. Superconducting SQUID sensors are one of the most sensitive magnetic sensors that have been ever produced. Due to their high sensitivity, these sensors have many applications in different fields. Magnetic Imaging and far away targets detections are of these applications. In this project, a magnetic imaging system based on Superconducting SQUID sensors have been designed and implemented. In SQUID applications one of the most important problems is the cancelation of the unwanted fields including background low frequency and high frequency fields. In residential and urban areas the interference of Electricity network is considered as one of the major noise sources. While the high frequency noises are cancelled using passive shielding, in low frequency active shielding is preferred. This is because of the fact that in many applications, SQUIDs are used for the detection of slowly varying fields. The aim of this project is to reduce the low frequency and high frequency noise of a magnetic detection system based on SQUID sensor. Active shielding is realized using a Helmholtz structure and utilizing proper driving circuits and suitable filters. In addition to active shielding, passive shielding is used for the cancelation of the high frequency fields. A proper data acquisition system and the associated controlling program in LABVIEW have been realized. Finally by the calibration of the system, we get the conversion coefficient to be: 21(nT/V).
