  8. In industries there are many nonlinear processes which cannot be easily controlled with classical methods. Model predictive control is a useful method for nonlinear processes which not only has high efficiency, but also extension of this control to interferential multi variable case, with constraint on the controlled and manipulated variables and other problematic dynamic specifications such as slow dynamics and inverse response is very simple. Industrial polymerization processes are regarded as significant nonlinear processes. Optimization and control of polymerization reactors have considerable importance in process applicability and in economics. The molecular structure of polymer such as molecular weight distribution (MWD), chain length, conversion of monomer is sensitive to reactor operating conditions especially temperature. In one hand model based control need a relatively precise model and this complex and extremely nonlinear behavior of polymerization systems is the main motivation to use fuzzy predictive control approach. The objective of this project is to utilize fuzzy modeling of a polymerization system in predictive control approach. First in this project a Methyl Metha acrylate polymerization system was simulated by synthetic, mass balance, and energy balance equations and its behavior was investigated. Afterwards, using fuzzy-logic and fuzzy-clustering an appropriate model for the system is obtained. Using this fuzzy-model, a predictive controller was designed for the system. Comparing results of this controller with linear predictive controller and PI controller it was shown that Fuzzy-logic controller is a qualified controller for the desired process. Using MATLAB programming, simulation results were provided for each case and presented in the related sections.
