Processing Nano Composite Structure of 1100 and 3004 Al Alloy Sheets Using ARB Technique and Study Influence of Heat Treatment on the Grain Structure

  8. At this study, nano structure sheet composite produced by1100 and 3004 strips using Accumulative role banding then mechanical and physical properties of the composites were investigated. After surface preparation, primary composite samples produced by putting different layers on each other and then rolling. The rolling was occurred in two steps; thickness reduction at first and second step were about 50% and 34%, respectively. ARB process were done till ninth cycle for Primary composite samples. To investigate mechanical properties of the samples, hardness, micro hardness and tensile strength tests have been done. Furthermore, micro structure of selective samples were studied by light microscope, electron microscope and XRD spectrums. After the ARB ninth cycle, Hardness and tensile strength of composite enhance to 85 HV and 324 Mpa respectively. Also, elongation is appeared 6.8% at the moment of fracture. Composite maintains layered structure till fourth cycle. Reduction in thickness of all layers and strains are equal. After the fourth cycle, 3004 layers start to neck, depart and disperse in the 1100 matrix. Distribution of the particle become more even with enhancing the cycle numbers and shows ductile fracture behavior. XRD and SEM results show no intermetallic phase in the composite during ARB and annealing process. Also, no intermetallic brittle phases appear in the grain boundary. The Composite show thermal stability till 150 °C, after that and at the higher temperature, The samples mechanical properties drop rapidly. With respect to all data earned at this study, The results can be used to produce thin sheets and high strength.
