  7. Abstract:
  8. In this thesis, a method developed for producing technology roadmap to identify technologies needed in design, construction and testing of turbofan engines. In the first phase and in scoping step, 10 years’ time horizon is determined. Then project organization and the role required are intended and after that the second phase that is technology roadmap formation is begun. Market identification, product identification by key success factors forms and experts are steps of this phase and determination of three generations of engine are results of product identification step. After that, the technology identification step is begun but simultaneously the technology mapping drawing steps for observing the technology evolution of turbofan engine industry in the world is started. The method developed for technology mapping is based on data analysis on patents. After workshops that held with experts, near 150 technologies finalized that most of these technologies define for three chosen engines. So in overall, 450 technologies are determined on technology roadmap that between these technologies, 45 technologies are determined as high prior technologies (for example, fan blade and compressor blade design test technology, combustion chamber liner investment casting technology, turbine blade thermal barrier coating technology, …). On the other hand, technology mapping developed. The most outstanding application of developed technology mapping is illustrating evolution of technology areas of turbofan engines (18 areas of technology) during three period of time based on patent analysis. Questions like, is there any alternative technologies for determined technologies? Is there any compatibility between results of experts and trend analysis (patent analysis)? Is there any possibility for purchasing some of those technologies? Are cases that will be discussed on identification of alternative technologies step. Validating, developing applicable program, revising and updating the steps of technology roadmap, constitute the steps of third phase
