  7. Abstract:
  8. Electromagnetic wave scattering from objects is one of the most important problems in applied electromagnetics. Usually the electromagnetic scattering characteristic from an object is analyzed with the assumption that the object is in free space. If the object is not near other objects or surfaces this is acceptable. However if the object is near other objects or surfaces then the interactions between the scattered wave from the object and surroundings can significantly alter the scattering characteristic from the object. In this thesis we have proposed a method for the analysis of electromagnetic scattering from an object in the presence of rough surfaces. This method is based on the calculation of multiple interactions between the object and underlying surface. To speed up the calculation of these interactions we have used a fast and efficient numerical method for the calculation of the scattered field from a rough surface when a arbitrary field is incident upon it.The proposed method for the calculation of the scattered wave from an object in the presence of a rough surface is its speed and much less memory requirement. Also this method treats scattering from the object and surface independently and thus we can use different methods for solving these two problems. The results of this method are compared to MOM results and it is shown that there is good agreement between them.
