Nowadays, the use of advanced composite materialsin different structureshas been increased and many industriesextend application of these high-tech materials because of their very high ratio of strength to weight and variation in ply configurationsuch asdifferent fiber angles which can control the response of these planes due to design requirements.One the most recent applications of such materials inreinforcing various structures are preventing crack propagation in aircraft structures and strengthening buildings against earthquakes which have been developed considerably. But, a lot of intact topics in this criterion are available which should be studied carefully. So, according to what was mentioned, the final target of this thesis will be a complete study on response spectrum of strengthened civil and aircraft structures by composite material applied to external loads. In order to meet this target five different phases have been defined for this thesis:Phase 1: Research on most recent application of composite materiel in strengthening civil and aircraftstructures Phase2: Study on behavior of several civil structures strengthened by composites such as concrete columnsconfinedwith FRP apply to different type of external loads by use of Finite Element Method Phase3:Effort to achieve an optimum ply configuration in mentioned structures by use ofgenetic algorithm Phase4:Study on static and dynamic response of some aircraft structures strengthened by composites such as components of an airplane wing to extend the age of these structures by use of FEM software Phase5:A final conclusionabout application of composite material to strengthen various structures
