Synthesis and Study of Catalytic Activity of[Ru(oxazine)2(EtOH)2]Cl complex in epoxidation of Olefins and Oxidation of Alkanes, Alcohol and Sulfide with TBHP and UHP

  8. Ruthenium complexes with their wide range of stable but chemically accessible oxidation states have been extensively studied as catalyst of hydrocarbon oxidation. In recent years, these complexes with various ligands have been reported as new catalysts with better selectivity and several co-oxidations. Ruthenium complexes act as oxidation catalyst, often via ruthenium-oxo species as active intermediates in the oxygen transfer process, oxidizing alcohols or alkanes and epoxidizing alkane. Here, we reported the synthesis and catalytic activity of a ruthenium(III) complex with bidentate oxazine ligand. The new synthesized Ru(III)-oxazine complex was characterized by IR and UV-Vis spectra and CHN analysis. This complex use for oxidation of alkene, alkane, sulphide and alcohol to corresponding products. This complex shows good catalytic activity and selectivity for epoxidation of olefins to corresponding epoxides. The catalytic reaction occurs at ambient temperatures with using TBHP (t-butyl hydroperoxide) as oxidant and dicholoromethane as solvent. This complex catalyzes oxidation of cyclohexene, especially in allyic situation but the epoxide is mian product in cycloocten oxidation. The maximum TON obtained by this catalytic system were about 314. The catalytic system shows good catalytic activity and selectivity for oxidation of alkane with using TBHP as oxidant. Keton was the main product, for example in oxidation of cyclohexane, cyclohexanon was obtained with excellent selectivity( 94%). Ru(III) complex catalyzed oxidation of methylphenylsulfid to sulfoxide(97%), with ureahydogen peroxide (UHP) as oxidant.
