  7. Abstract:
  8. Complicated theories dominated toward interacting of coastal regions resulted from its nature. Besides of that interference of human activities for acquiring beneficial aspects of shorelines causes environmental considerations to be challenged. One of the main factors for resolving this challenge is to obtain adequate information from hydrodynamic process and sediment regime. In spite of scientific researches that carried out along past three decades for understanding the exact mechanism of along shore sediment transport, it was not fully developed. One of the main reasons of uncertainty for forecasting the sediment regime regarded not exact knowledge of how sediment act in different conditions due to wave, wind and current action. One of the main points in studying the sediment transport along shoreline is giving close consideration to mild wave induced current that can transfer the amount of littoral drift. This wave induced current could be resulted from the breaking wave and turbulence in surf zone. If depth of water more than wavelength, and waves are nonsymmetrical, the motion of wave could reach to the bottom and causes particles unequally moves forward and backward, thus littoral sediment could observed. In this study numerical simulation for evaluating the amount of littoral drift has been performed. For estimating the active region for littoral drift it is inevitable to have information about particle characteristic, bottom slope, wave characteristics and then they should be sensitive analyzed an calibrated to be considered in the model. Due to variety of wave characteristics, two kind of modeling (one-dimensional and two dimensional model) has been simulated and resulted compared with empirical formulas of alongshore sediment transport. Numerical simulation by of Souza region has been performed. The results of one-dimensional and two-dimensional littoral drift model have shown good agreements with the results of empirical formulas of Kamphuis (formula of 1991), and CERC
