  7. Abstract:
  8. Platinum is one of the most used catalysts in refining and petrochemical industries. Also, Platinum uses in other industries like automobile catalytic convertor. As respect to importance of Platinum in these industries, growth of its consumption in recent decades and its very high price, recovery of Platinum is essential. Hence, many of various methods including hydro-metallurgy are applied. In despite of these wide spreading experimental investigations, due to low information about the reactions and the nature of reaction products, a few investigations were done on kinetics of Platinum recovery. A new method that used iodine solution to extract Platinum from spent reforming catalysts was investigated before in Dr.Baghalha group that reached to acceptable extraction conversion. It is show that this method is a good method to extract Platinum from spent catalysts. This project is attempted to find best kinetics model for this system, with uses of experimental data and discussing of the system chemistry. In this system, Platinum is oxidized from spent catalyst with I_3^- that is formed from the reaction of I^- andI_2. The main platinum ion in aqueous solution isPtI_6^(-2). In this system, it is obvious that some of Platinum ions in aqueous solution is precipitated, and decrease total conversion. Precipitation reaction is depended to reaction temperature and Platinum ions concentration. After wide studying, it is considerable that this precipitation isPtI_4. This project is attempted to discuss the affecting of all parameters like, temperature, iodine and iodide concentration and pH on the kinetics of reaction. This project considered two kinetics (extraction and precipitation reactions). And, two differential equations were made. These equations were solved by numerical methods and optimized with many of optimization algorithms, to find optimized kinetics parameters. The order of extraction reaction for platinum is 2.67 and for precipitation reaction is 0.32
