Utilization of Airborne Wind Energy in Iran

A Flying Electric Generator (FEG) can be a wind turbine which operates at high altitudes, where there is a continuous fast flow of air and converts wind energy to electrical power.The related field is an interdisciplinary area and is mostly related to the Aerospace Engineering and Energy Conversion. We focused on Iran, as one of the few lands in the northern hemisphere that has a high overall amount of high altitude wind energy for at least half of the year over it, according to the information of atlas of airborne wind energy in this work.So to install the FEGs in Iran, we had to find, places with a safe aerial space overhead which grant us reliable spots over country. These places found by subtracting sensitive areas from all overhead space in the country, in a 3D map. Then, overlapping seasonal data of the optimized level and area showed us the places that FEGs should be flown there. Then population densitywas studied.Nextby over lapping these series of data, we found places in country that are safe and have the most powerful amount of wind jets blown there. To accumulate the wind in the range of 8000 to 12000 meters two methods are presented. From the electrical aspect, the common generators were studied and the best was chosen for this purpose and costanalysiswas done for the case.At last by considering all pervious data, estimation on the produced energy using this method for Iran was calculated. In summery by this work we can find places on in Iran that the ground facility for FEG safety could be established
