  7. Abstract:
  8. In this research, we present a new method for solving layout problems in the cellular manufacturing system. We also analyze the transportation systems using automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and its cost affecting the performance of cellular manufacturing system. For elimination of inter current and traffic problems, we use a new idea of dividing workstations to some non-overlapping closed zones to which independent automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are allocated for internal transfers in each zone. In this research, a combinational mathematical model has been developed for minimizing the cost of material flow intra and inter-loops and minimization of procurement of AGVs for each zone while considering the limitation of AGV work loading. Since the resulted model is a NPCopmplete one, a Tabu search algorithm was developed and coded in C# software for solving the problem. To validate the efficacy of the proposed model, numerical illustrations have been conducted. Three types of tabu algorithms are developed and a statistical test (Analyze of Variance) is used to choose the best one among them . Then the best algorithm is implemented and test problems are solved. The results are compared with output of CPLEX as exact solution. The results of the experimental study revealed that the new algorithm has a very good performance and efficacy
