  8. Many advanced process plants and machines are extremely complex, and always depend on automatic control for satisfactory operation. In order to achieve and maintain system stability and assure satisfactory and safe operation, there is increasing demand for dynamic systems to continue acceptable operation following failures. Therefore failures detection has always been an important aspect of fault tolerant control design. In nuclear power plant, for example, tens of alarms can occur in a few second after a fault. Fault detection might be of utmost importance due to safety, political and other reasons. There are many methods to detect fault on the system. In this project approach based on system identification has been used.This method is based on the principle that the occurrence of any fault in the system change the parameters of their system. Extended Kalman Filter and Recursive Least Squares methods have been used to identify system parameters. Another goal of this project is design of intelligent controller for nuclear power plant in change of power operation. Intelligent controller that used in this project is a adaptive neuro-fuzzy controller based on emotional learning. Parameters of the controller, are set by error back propagation algorithm and basis of the reinforcement signal produced by the critic agent. Performance of intelligent controller in term of transient response and robustness against failures is very good and outstanding. One of the most distinguished characteristic of the proposed controller is its simple structure and design procedure as well as its online tuning capability and relatively reduced amount of computation which make it as one of the prominent condidates for the nuclear power plant industry
