Magnetic Nanocomposites Based on Biodegradable Plastic PVA and Effect of Gamma Irradiation, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Frounchi, Masoud (Supervisor) ; Dadbin, Susan (Supervisor)
Abstract
Polyvinylalcohol/magnetite nanocomposite films were fabricated via solution casting. Magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were prepared by means of co-precipitation method and modified by citric acid. The nanoparticles and nanocomposites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and mechanical measurement. The results reveal that magnetite nanoparticles have a spherical shape with an average diameter of 19.7nm and are superparamagnetic at room temperature. The nanoparticles are observed to be uniformly dispersed in the polymer matrix due to a strong interaction between the...
