- Abstract:
- Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) has been a research topic for more than a decade, and the range of potential applications has spanned beyond the military domain into commercial domains. A key feature of current WSN solutions is operation in unlicensed frequency bands, for instance, the worldwide available 2.4 GHz band. However, the same band is shared by other wireless applications, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as other proprietary technologies. There is evidence that unlicensed spectrum is becoming overcrowded, to solve this problem, concept of cognitive radio has been introduced.
A main challenge for routing in cognitive radio wireless sensor networks is the collaboration between the route selection and spectrum decision. To solve this problem, we proposed two methods. The first proposed method is based on hop-by-hop routing, local decisions being taken by nodes according to local information (CR node’s neighborhood), channels availability, and sink location. This proposed routing protocol can balance the energy consumption in network. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method with higher network life-time and packet delivery ratio. The goal of second proposed method is to design routing protocol that lead to data aggregation without explicit maintenance of a structure. Using simulation, we evaluated the performance and potential of this method - Keywords:
