  7. Abstract:
  8. Facility Layout Problem is one of the classic problems with the goal of arranging facilities with respect to the objective function and it’s been the subject of many researches for many years. By progressive development of industrial units in recent years and the lack of space especially in major cities, using multi-floor buildings can be a suitable solution. In literature, a few researches on this kind of layout problems are done. Maybe the main reason is difficulties of modeling. In this problem, with regard to objective function, interior and between floors flow and some predefined constraints, a suitable floor and place for each facility or department is determined. On the other hand, in most of real world problems, we cannot assume that all the parameters are deterministic. So, the need of studying this problem in the condition of uncertainty of some parameters is sensible. In this thesis, we assume a multi-floor building which the cellar is the storage floor, and other floors are used for locating facilities. Material demands for facilities, flows between departments and places for locating departments, are assumed as uncertain. After modeling the problem with the objective of minimizing the material flow cost, we develop a robust mathematical model. Then, we solve both models with a hybrid ACO and compare the results and running times. By noticing to the results of solving samples, we can claim that our hybrid ACO is an effective method for solving large scales of this problem
