  7. Abstract:
  8. During the last decade there have been many attempts to push THz science and technology achievement to the appropriate solid state source for this purpose is a main challenge in this area. One of the best devices which can be used as a source in this gap is the stack of intrinsic Josephson junctions. Josephson junction include a dielectric which is sandwiched between two superconductors and convert the voltage to the electromagnetic wave. After studies in this field for obtaining a suitable source using stack of intrinsic Josephson junctions, an idea which is raised in this area is having a mixer in terahertz gap. The main purpose of this thesis is checking the idea of a structure which can be used as a THz mixer. In this regard, first the structure which can have a properties of a mixer is introduced. In the following, the electrodynamics of a sample and the describing equations are investigated. Using the Maxwell and London equations for superconductors, suitable boundary conditions for the edge and middling of the structure is obtained and according to these boundary conditions, the Sine-Gordon equations are numerically solved. Also the current and the field curves are illustrated. For solving the governing equations theoretically, a new boundary condition for the middling of the structure is proposed and using two other boundary conditions, Sine-Gordon equations are solved. Based on the obtained numerical results, a solution for the equations is assumed and after applying the solutions to the equations, phase of the structure is obtained and according to the relation between the power and the phase, power of the sample is obtained and plotted. In this study new behaviors are observed which are uniquely for the proposed structure. Finally, the pattern of the radiation is illustrated
