  7. Abstract:
  8. One of the robots that has become more important recently is radio control helicopters. According to the intrinsic unstability of these helicopters and possibility of crash with the surroundings, it is needed to have a device which the helicopter can be fixed to so the ability of motion is reduced and a safer flight is achieved. In the recent applications of these helicopters, the autonomous flight ability of these devices is more noticed; and a lot of controllers are proposed to achieve this goal. It is obvious that these controllers are needed to be tested; and benchmarking a controller in the software simulation environment is not reliable; so a test stand is needed.
In this project a comprehensive study is done on previous works in the field of helicopter test stands and a combination of them is selected as the design plan. The number of DOFs in this design is five which two of them are translation and three of them are rotation. In this design the ability to determine the spatial position is achieved by measuring the plannar angle of rotation, elevation angle of rotation, roll, pitch and yaw angles. In the proposed design it is tried to minimize the influence of structure on the helicopter flight. It is worth to mention that the number of DOFs is reduced to three in order to simplify the fabrication of structure which can be easily converted to five DOF. By utilizing this device, RC helicopter pilot learning is possible .In future steps after extraction the dynamic relation between the flight with the tester and the flight without tester, the autonomous RC helicopter flight tests can be done in order to benchmark the controllers.
