  7. Abstract:
  8. Recently, preparation of biofunctionalized nanoparticles with specific magnetic properties has received great attention for medical imaging. Targeting magnetic nanoparticles with high signal in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) could be a powerful tissue imaging and cellular tracking agent. Main purpose of this research is the synthesis of Mn3O4@polymer composite nanoparticles as a positive MRI contrast agent. Nanoparticles were prepared by modified microwavepolyol and precipitation method with average particle size of 18 and 3nm.Respectivelythe effect of diffrent parameters such as time, surfactant and the presence of water in polyol method and the amount ofpolyethylene glycol as surfactant agent and post heat treatment in precipitation method was investigated. Surface modification was done on the nanoparticles prepared by precipitation method through chemical bonding of APTMS, TEVS and hydrophilic mPEG molecules. The optional synthesized particles with five times weight PEG1000 as surfactant, heat treated in airand surface modifiedwith 200(μl/0.1mg) TEVS and ten times weight mPEG6000 show the best stability. Crystal structure and size distribution were characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) and selected area diffraction pattern (SADP). Moreover, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to prove the coatings and then colloids stability was determined by turbidimetry
