  7. Abstract:
  8. In previous decades, easy access to material and low cost human power allow the product process to be performed in a preferred way. The limit in amount of material, economy, and the efficiency of the model has not been influential like these days. Today, the effective use of material and consideration of an economic model have great importance. It is obvious that a process of designing implies optimizing which the range of its using is also continuing in many engineering sciences. Many optimization issues contain discrete nature. Many of searching spaces that we encounter in the real world applications are not necessarily continuous as a condition which has crucial importance for classic optimization methods. It is completely obvious that classic optimizing methods have to be avoided in favor of more efficient and stable ways which are not limited to searching spaces applied. Meta-heuristic algorithms are samples of these ones which do not contain many defects of classical methods. They begin searching from some starting points, in this way, if parameters are adjusted properly and used correctly for the case, the possibility of capturing in one local optimization point is low. These features and other attractive aspects which are not mentioned here cause many researchers using Meta-heuristic algorithms for their own optimization. In this project Meta-heuristic algorithms are used for optimize structural problems. They are used to find the collapse load factor of two-dimension frames. This dissertation is generally contained three parts. In the first part which involves the first and the third chapter, the plastic analysis of frames is investigated by using Kinematic methods. In the second part which involves the second chapter, detailed information of heuristic algorithms namely ant colony systems are presented. The final part is devoted to applying of the above mentioned algorithm in solving the structural problems. In this part the structure of the old algorithm and also the new optimized algorithm are explained and the performance of them is compared. Time consuming and redundant parts that greatly affect the performance are removed leading to an accelerated and optimized ACS algorithm
