  7. Abstract:
  8. Marine structures are always exposed to environmental loadings such as wind, wave, earthquake and sea currents. The wave-induced force could cause the critical stress in elements and due to fatigue failure, because of being random and periodical. In generally, it can be shown that fatigue is an extremely important phenomenon and one of the main problems in the long time destruction of the structure, because of severe corrosion and random loading in the marine environment. In order to reduce the effect of environmental loads, using control mechanisms is a new method to control vibrations of structures. These systems cause the reduction of structure responding such as acceleration, velocity and displacement. In this case, inactive viscous damper is one of the most appropriate tools which is used to control structural vibrations. According to above, in this thesis, Discussed to the application of this damper to controlling responds of structure due to wave loads, and then evaluation and analysis of fixed platforms based on fatigue in the frequency domain. For this purpose, at first, parametric study of performance of viscous damper in several conventional arrangements is done and after that we discuss the effect of this control system on increasing the lifetime of fatigue. In addition, by considering the interference of numerous uncertainties in fatigue analysis, the effect of coefficients of Morrison’s equation on the changes of damages is discussed in the end
