  7. Abstract:
  8. Transient stability as one of the power-angle stability parts is a phenomena which is threatening the security of power systems. Following the occurrence of a major disturbance such as a short circuit, each of the generators will be in risk of transient instability due to distance from the fault location. If a generator fails to maintain its stability with the network, it become out-of-step. Out-of-step caused rounding waste of generator rotor and zero average output power. Out-of-step on the one hand lead to severe mechanical and thermal damage to the generator and the other hand disrupt load providing in the power system. So, the instability of the generator must be detected in the shortest possible time and sent trip commend to the generator. Therefore, the detection of synchronous generator out-of-step is one of the fundamental generator protections. The project goal is to propose an out-of-step master plan developed by appropriate algorithms. In the first stage predict out-of-step condition and prevent generator instability. If it is not possible to restore the generator to normal condition, trip the generator sooner. The simulations are carry out with DIgSILENT software and algorithms studies will be done by Matlab. Different parts of the project are as follows:
    • Explain the necessity of the project and its objectives
    • Identification the mechanism of transient stability of synchronous generators
    • Evaluation of conventional and industrial Out of step algorithms
    • Out-of-step algorithms literature review
    • Proposition algorithm(s) for detection and prediction of out-of-step
    • Proposition method (s) to prevent Generator instability
    • Perform transient stability simulations by DIgSILENT
    • perform the proposed algorithm(s)
    • Conclusion and preparation of project reports
